It's not about treating people badly. It is about the developers forcing people to help others by putting tomes and by the only way and best way to get them is by forcing to help newbs. Notice I said newbs, meaning..new players, not noobs, which are jerks at any level, etc. I am not going to get offended and go off on a rant here just because my entire post was misinterpreted, but I will say something that I said previously..again ^^

I love helping people, and gladly will help anyone..as long as I am given the choice. Do not lock gear/items/relic/tomes behind stuff that requires you to help newbs. In FFXI I had a LS dedicated to helping others and new players...nothing wrong with that. So once again, the problem is and I will stand by thinking this, the developers locking our stuff behind the DF roulette.

Really don't see how it is us being a jerk for being forced to back track on old content to get our relic weapons. Being forced to get new stuff is not really the best way to do it. They need to add new content for the new stuff..instead of making people go back and do the old stuff. Now, if you could take a group of veterans and do old content...that is fine. Or if it is still relevant.

But what the OP is saying , is that he is frustrated because veteran players get mixed in with brand new players and their opinions clash, and rightfully so. A newbie here has his first time there..he should not have to rush and expect to be as experienced as a veteran, and then the veteran on the other hand has done this dungeon 283948293043 times and just wants to get it over with. Still don't see the issue with this? ^^;

I never ever force people to play my way, I just go along and do whatever..but not everyone is like me, and I do not blame them.

What is the point of trials? It is to help new people clear it and it gives the tome flavour of the patch. No...if I want to help people, do not force me by putting my tomes in there, let me do it out of the kindness of my heart, or exp, or god forbid it has some useful item there.

All around it is just simply a bad system. The DF needs to be changed up, let veterans play with veterans, and newbies play with newbies, I don't know what else to do. Or ditch the DF and PF only...but then people would get upset with having to wait/low server population/etc.
