    BLM: Firestarter Question

It seems to me as if there's a really small delay for Firestarter to proc if it does. Is it more beneficient for my dps to wait a second after casting Fire to see if it procs? Or should i spam Fire and cast the proc after the next Fire?

    Thank you!

The delay is because it seems to wait till the Fire effect hits, rather than on spell cast completion. It's a pain.

To answer your second query; it is not beneficial to wait to see if it procs as that's time spent not casting, especially if it doesn't proc and you've wasted half a second (which adds up quickly!) Cast your next Fire then activate any proc from the first Fire after that.

The proc happens when the damage lands, that's why it takes a second to see it proc.

Usually at that level, you just keep spamming fire. Sometimes if you have a thundercloud proc you can throw that out in between fires to see if the firestarter proc has happened. If not, you just keep going. Firestarter procs are good damage burst when they happen, but don't go looking for them, use them when they show up! And if you get one on your last fire before going back into ice, save it. Wait til your mana is back up then transpose back into fire and throw it out to start your fire rotation again.

To increase your DPS yes wait for each proc and start casting after
Otherwise on basic pve spam dire and use to bonus cast when available

    Don't do this ^^

Think of it this way, the chances of you proccing firestarter twice in a row is quite unlikely, so it's more beneficial to your DPS to cast a fire 1 and then use your proc than it is to fish for procs or worry about procs that in all likelihood would not have occurred. Follow your ABCs (Always Be Casting)

Clipping Firestarters is less of a DPS loss than stopping for a proc.

Rule 1 of BLM is to never stop casting.

If you must try to predict firestarters, you can use cooldowns like surecast or a thundercloud proc as a buffer while your fire attack hits the target. Once you hit 60 you'll have bigger things to worry about than firestarters.
