Balmung RP as a Hyur

Things I've noticed so far:

1. If you aren’t Au’ra. You’re going to have a hard time finding any RP.

2. If you do find RP, Au’ra stick with Au’ra and will often go places you aren’t welcome.

3. Its extremely cliquish.



I dunno, I got super excited to start RPing here and trying out something new. I had a set way I wanted to go with my character but, due to his race, its a slow process at the bottom of a totem pole hoping to get noticed. Unfortunately, it takes the wind right out of the sails. Leveling becomes a chore too because, who wants to level a character that will just be looked down upon because of not being part of the Au’ra crew?

RPing is great part of Balmung experience, and I time to time, casually RPing, and it doesn't involve certain race you need to be to RP. I just try to blend it with people I meet, or with people I find interest in. So far, not so much trouble RPing.

I have never personally noticed an Au Ra denying the other races. But if they do, it is not exactly unjust. A large portion of the community were very hateful both ic and ooc to a lot of people who were playing Auri for the first couple months of heavensward. It makes sense they would become secluded if the individuals you tried to Rp with went through this. I had tons of friends who abandoned their alts cuz they were treated like crap whilst playing an Au Ra. That being said, hyurs are the most popular race, so you should still have np finding rp. Plus there is about a million catboy hookers you could probably Rp with in the quicksand! I have only ever met one person who played a character so racist that he wouldn't ever get along with Auri. I met a lot of people who were abrasive but would still RP with SOME auri. That same person also played an Au Ra that they abandoned cuz they had issues with nobody liking to rp with them cuz they were Auri.

I don't rp at all (like never ever) but every time I go to places rper hang out I see a lot of diversity and I even got pms as miqo'te, au ra and as a hyur recently by an aura

Actually that would add some much needed complexity in some scenarios. 99% of the rp encounters for me is always everyone being friendly and helpful which as long as we are adults and understand that some people rp as gritty negative people and not take it personally I have met a few worthwhile people in that regards.

I'm sorry to hear about the experience you had. I have yet to notice that cliquish atmosphere and have been here over a month now. I would say to give it some more time.

RP problem is RP clique. People just want interlopers in there story or their friend circle. Unless they scout you as ok. RPC are the first to complain and make list of people to avoid yet most often RP odd stuff.

Cliques are not a bad thing unless the clique is out to get you. As with real life, people do not get along with all types of people. People are avoided because of what their roleplay is or because people know they won't get along. Personalities clash, some opinions just cannot mesh. For example, I like to avoid High Fantasy when I roleplay in FFXIV so I avoid having to roleplay things that delve highly into the Void. I roleplay a Lalafell obviously, and while I've met a lot of Miqo'te I've only RP'd once or twice with an Au Ra if at all.

What are the places you've tried RPing at? How crowded are they? What do you do when you initiate RP?
In fact, the people right now that I am involved with in an RP arc consist of: 2 Highlander males, 2 Highlander female, 1 Highlander/Midlander Female and 1 Midlander Male. All Hyur.
