if i collect a item and its lower then the requirement to turn in can i reduce it?

Which I think is total crap considering a below value collectible is worthless and the scripts are by far more valuable than the reduction items. (As far as I've seen anyway, but I only have Fisherman at 60 so far)

Well for instance if I mess up an Adamantite, I can just turn around and sell the normal item, it'll get me money.

IDK how FSH goes but if it's the same as BTN/MNR then some of the items do have a use. Adamantite & Aurum Regis Ores and Chysahl Greens can all be crafted, but yes the majority of the BTN/MNR red collectibles have no value if under the needed rating.

ACtally let me tell you something I didn't know till a week ago...
apparently a lot of those ingredients (the legendary nodes for red scrips) are used in making mats for making thing like... the ilvl 170 Crafting gear.
Let me tell you the killing I've made off HQ legendary materials.
