I PL 4 job 36+. I not know how to Ifrit. Herpa derp.

I mean that's true, if you're an asshole to them about it they're more likely to be like "Ugh this person's being a complete ass." than they are to be like "UGH /RAGE. Oh why'd I get mad again? BECAUSE THIS PERSON TOLD ME HOW TO PLAY MY CLASS. Oh well maybe what they told me is goods so I'll look at it." I highly doubt they're gonna get to that stage. They're just gonna remember the fact you were an ass.Originally Posted by ispano
Yes, most people are more likely to listen if you're not an asshole in their face about it. A select few won't be, but those you can't really do anything about.
But... the thing i've noticed both in games and out, many people, not all of course, but many, actually remember more often when you're an asshole to them. I'm not advocating that, but it's something i've noticed. Some people are like "yeah yeah ok" when you explain something normally, then forget later. You then berate them about it and they keep remembering you were an asshole to them and that likely triggers WHY you were an asshole to them.

It's not the first way I do things for sure. But for certain types of people, when they continue to not remember and do things right it comes out, and after that, booted. Then they remember whoever was being an asshole to them and why they got booted. Again, this is only certain people. Like the "it's just a game" crowd, sure it's a game, nothing to get upset over. Wasting other people's time on the other hand... doesn't matter if it's a game or not.I mean that's true, if you're an asshole to them about it they're more likely to be like "Ugh this person's being a complete ass." than they are to be like "UGH /RAGE. I got level 34 gladiator all solo and cover isn't even on my bar since its useless solo. Provoke is however but use that mostly for a range pull move.

No it wasnt, at least while I was playing (I quit as soon as FFXIV came out).and XI for that matter. I always roll my eyes when people say XI has the best community. That's a joke. It's full of people like OP.
last 3-4 yers everyone is pro in FFXI on their job anyway...

"No man is invincible, and therefore no man can fully understand that which would make him invincible"
— Miyamoto Musashi
The op already told him to use provoke...and later he dont want to do it because he dont want to get hit..and at beginning that person agree to be the tank?
It is not a matter of people dont know how to do things, but unwiling to do task that he agree to do...
I can put cure I/II/III, Sac I/II/III, stoneskin II, shell II, protect II, on my Gladiator, therefore its a healer/buffer class right?
My message to the community would be to please leave the mmo snobbery behind. This is a game that isn't complete yet and the rules are currently being redefined. It is also a game that promised that players could completely customize their characters and fill multiple roles. So I wouldn't place any blame on a player just because they didn't fill the role you established for them based on your experiences in other games.

You're also forgetting that XIV was supposed to appeal to a solo-player base. It's kinda hard to learn your role in a party if you're seldom in one if you're pressed for time. Me? I knew I'd never be able to learn to be an efficient Tank or Healer without any practice in a party, so since I play solo most of the time: Being a Lancer was the best thing I could ask for. I'm mowing down mob after mob on my own now, but still, I've yet to see how I'd handle myself in say a dungeon or an NM fight.
To reiterate what you stated before:
Should others be held accountable because the majority of players who are searching for parties are so arrogant that they brush others aside simply because they haven't gotten their levels up yet? I think not.
What the OP was trying to argue was simply from an elitist standpoint which, in the state that XIV and the player base is in, has no validity whatsoever. I would think that he would be parading his achievements around being the self-proclaimed master of his class, and yet all I've seen from him on the forums was merely pollutant posts on threads - doing more harm than good. That doesn't only apply to him, but also a vast majority of the die-hard fanatics and veterans from shoddier MMOs.
While they're spending 9 hours a day polluting the forums, I'm going out into Eorzea and gaining my levels and instead of reprimanding other players for their shortcomings - and especially if they find themselves on the verge of death - I lend whatever help I can offer. People seem to forget that they were all greenhorns at one point, and to make martyrs of those who are at least making an attempt at trying to learn the mechanics is rather condescending, hypocritical, and simply: Pathetic.
Formerly Rounnin Tiankeris of Kashuan; reborn as Yongdi Washou of Hyperion.
May we continue to walk in the light of the crystal and restore Eorzea to its former glory.
