So don't go around telling people how to play their class just because their view of a class is different from yours.
I'd agree with this, its pretty annoying how everyone instantly assumes CNJ are healers, of course when they add jobs that may be the case :O, looks like THM will be getting blackmage.

you do realize that this game you are playing in beta-phases? i wonder why SE made future patch to fix abilities of all classes.

Thanks for proving that you have no f'ing idea what you're talking about. Provoke hasn't worked like that since at least 1.18, if not sooner. Taunt kinda works like that, but even it gives real enmity. If you don't know what an ability does, don't pretend you do.

You are 100% right in this statement. The community needs to stop shunning, or should I say discriminating against people who aren't as well versed in party play as others. In stead Help them understand what they should be doing in a party situation. It's completly understandable for players not knowing party style as FF unlike any other MMO out there.

Put down your harsh words and be a constructive part of a social community and not a destructive one.

Emnity is not broken.... Provoke is just weak (but it helps and should be used), it's like a WS that does no dmg and it's instant, so quit being a turtle, you're not a paladin you're a disciple of war, dish out some damage and cure yourself. Spam your hate tools and do damage, and cure. Your mage should put stygian spikes on you so you can keep curing. Don't waste your mp outside of battle that's a mage's job. Starting the fight with your HP not full is actually a good thing if your mp can handle it because you can cure right away after claiming for extra hate.

Cover sucks unless its organized that the healer runs behind you, otherwise its too much wasted focus trying to align a random hate pull.

I probably can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Some people join parties knowing what's expected of them and some don't. Like, if I join a party on my Conjurer then I'm gonna by default setup to cure because I've come to realize that's what's expected of me. At the same time, if someone plays Conjurer for the damage aspect of it then they might not have the same mindset. If we're grinding and something goes wrong and I see a way to fix it then I'll address it but there are right and wrong ways to do that. Someone is way more likely to listen to you if you sound like you're giving constructive criticism rather than just blatantly telling them their playing their class wrong.

If they got to 30 without knowing what Provoke/Cover is, then they probably had no reason to use it up to 30 whether they were soloing the entire time (or PL'd... that would suck). I think that if you're playing Gladiator to DD with a sword though and you decide that you wanna join a party to make the levels go faster that you should realize you'll probably be expected to tank. Most parties simply won't let you attempt to DD.

Comparing the cases between Conjurer and Gladiator are fairly different though. A Conjurer has the ability to completely set up to deal damage and still perform well while a Gladiator can setup to DD but they're much better off setting up to tank.

The only other real thing you can do if you happen to come across one that refuses to tank is tell him that that's why you invited him. It's not like it's against the rules to oust him from the party and find a willing tank.

I'll likely get some flak for this, but here goes.

Yes, most people are more likely to listen if you're not an asshole in their face about it. A select few won't be, but those you can't really do anything about.

But... the thing i've noticed both in games and out, many people, not all of course, but many, actually remember more often when you're an asshole to them. I'm not advocating that, but it's something i've noticed. Some people are like "yeah yeah ok" when you explain something normally, then forget later. You then berate them about it and they keep remembering you were an asshole to them and that likely triggers WHY you were an asshole to them.

Again, not advocating this, just something i've noticed.

My personal opinion on why this happens is that some people will hear you those few times you explain it and do it, but they put no effort into trying to remember. While remembering past the first time or so should require no effort to remember at all, except in special cases, it seems that some people need to make themselves remember. It's part of the mindset I guess, i've learned to just absorb information wherever I come across it. I don't remember absolutely everything of course, but most things stick pretty well.

It works. Next mob, I ask him to voke. HE SAYS NO! Because he didn't want to take damage. He didn't even know what a tank does. If you're going to play a MMO, you should AT LEAST know the basic roles of each playstyle (Tank, healer, dps, etc) and he clearly knew what a tank was, but HE didn't want to be the tank....as a GLA...So say what you will, but people like that, even after being asked to tank correctly and being told which skill will allow that, have no place in parties and I'm glad he can solo because I'm never inviting him to a party as anything other than DPS ever again. I hope he can solo Ifrit too because even the Arc, that was from his LS, got annoyed with his bs.

Learn your classes, or at least know the roles of each class, or hope that SE lowers the difficulty on raid mobs...because you'll never fight them more than once at your pace, kiddies.
Actually I've been playing the game the same length you have and I have more achievements so... good call on that one. While I'm at it I'm going to go ahead and call bulls**t on the casting one sacrifice and the mob turns on you. Having quite a bit of experience main healing including multiple wins over Batraal without taking a single hit from batman. My point still stands, if you tried asking your team members to play a certain role instead of "confronting" them when they didn't automatically behave the way you expected, you might not spend half your time licking the dirt.

I think I found the problem looking at this thread: To all "high" level players...

    Server Figaro
    Geesus Ravenheart of Figaro
    Bear Grylls of Figaro

If you're not willing to teach, no one will learn.
