    Don't Just Stop at E3

    Dear Yoshida & Team,

I'm very glad to hear about the fact that you've decided to show off FFXIV 2.0 at E3. However, I REALLY urge you guys not to stop there. If you want people to notice your game, you need to make a big impression not only at E3, but at other conventions around the world as well. Not only that, but start putting out new trailers for the game every month or so after E3. You need to make sure you catch the eye of the player-base who had once called you useless. I'm actually very glad Yoshida will be at E3 representing this game because when Tanaka was representing the game, he seemed bored to even be there. Show us you're excited about your game! (We know you are)

Open up your options for sales. We know you'll be showing off the Ps3 version at E3, but when the game gets closer to release on console, I strongly recommend you look to Steam and other online-retailers for PC sales. If you want your player-base back, you NEED to take this next year very seriously as far as marketing your product goes. You can't sit back and expect it to happen simply because the changes are there. People need to KNOW they are there and you can only make sure of that by putting in as much face-time with FFXIV 2.0 as possible.

All-in-all, we know the game is going to end up more of a success than it is now, but if you want it to catch the eyes of many more players, the players need to know you've changed in the last two-years. Show the world what you're worth, SE.

    Thanks,

    Excited Fan.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

Really the best chance of a successful relaunch is a massive advertising budget... issues is I never seen square do this.

Like WoW cataclysm you couldn't turn on the TV on half the stations at night without seeing a WoW commercial at least 3 times. It was plastered on every single game site on the web it seemed.

Honestly I don't we will see that, but they need to pay for advertising to even get people to look at the game. Atm especially with current media most people see the game as a lost cause, hopeless failure. SE must make people look at it and say oh crap it really is good now, not only good but better then half/all the other mmo out there today. We need TV advertisements, advertisement on all the major gaming sites, posters in Game store's windows, basically the works. And they need to do it in every area they are launching the game.

The question is how much are they willing to risk, a massive advertising campaign that will probably get another 300-500k subs at relaunch will probably cost 10s of millions if not more then the whole project costed to begin with. Cost alot to change people's mind. But with enough spamming on TV and the Internet and a free trial it can easily be done.

Agreed. The campaign would be pricey, but if it managed to catch the eye of more players it's well worth it in the end and eventually pays for itself. I just hope SE can see the value in that.

Sir, I think right now anyone should be allowed to give SE advice on how to market their product considering the bang-up job they did at release. Not only was the game busted, but the game was also BARELY marketed. You know how ridiculous it is that every MMO that's come out in the last few years has been in stores on day one...of course, except FFXIV. I couldn't find that game in any story in my area. I had to wait for an online copy to come in. That's part of something called "Place", or "Placement", in Marketing. And they failed at it.

So yes, I think even a great "know it all" person like yourself can figure that SE needs a better Marketing campaign, and considering an email sent to the CEO PROBABLY go unread (difference in language and probably receives many emails per day), then it'd be nice at least if:

Translator/Moderator tells Devs of the topic > Devs inform Yoshida > Yoshida thinks about it > Speaks with the Marketing Department at SE and decides to start a bigger campaign. As the Mods have said, they are reading EVERYTHING. It at least gives a shot in the dark chance of making it to someone's desk.

All I'm saying is that I want SE to be more out-going with showing off the game this time around, rather than when Tanaka was in charge.

But sure, thanks for being a pretentious jerk for no reason :] I'll even give your post a "like" for effort.

Considering they will probably be primarily looking for the eye of the PS3 consumer, no.

    YES!!!

    Advertise, advertise, advertise!!!

WoW didn't become so popular because it was a great game right off the bat. It became popular because you couldn't watch a single show on TV without seeing 2-3 WoW commercials.

Most people have never heard of FFXI or FFXIV, but everyone knows what WoW is.

I agree, when FFXI was released in Europe I never saw an advert, ever. I only heard of it through and amercian friend and the only place I ever saw it was Amazon, SE needs to get FFXIV 2.0 reviewed once its complete and get into the gaming mags to advertise, shops, online gaming sites, Stream, TV adverts!!!

Seriously I've seen tons of crappy SE adverts on TV for pointless games but never a popular FF game, start screaming out to everyone.
