Yep, I've had this idea before, I just think these things should have easier access. But yeah, this does solve the problem temporarilyThere's sort of a limited "notebook" capability built in to the game: Macros. Write a macro with info on the nodes you like to gather from, using lines like this:
Then put the macro on a quickslot for easy access, and it will echo your notes to the log when activated.Code:/e Adamantite: Azys Lla <24,6> 11AM/PM slot 6 /e Darksteel: CCH <24,19> 1AM slot 3
Because macros are limited to 15 lines, you might make one macro for Miner, one for Botanist, one for Fisher, and put them on the hotbars for each class.

It's really not that bad. It's challenging for one to prioritize what nodes you want to hit. In 3.0 you can't hit them all like you could pre 3.0. Second, if they were available all the time then the mats wouldn't hold the same value(assuming you're selling not collecting). If you were collecting and they were up all the time you would cap in a very short time. It's fine the way it is. In 3.0 content you have easy nodes, nodes with hidden mats at random slots, and rare hidden nodes. It's a nice balance.

Not my point. I was talking about the need to have to break immersion from the game in order to see info that the game should show you, and I believe it should show you after you gather the items, because if you can write it down and memorize it, then there's no reason for the game to hide it from the UI.It's really not that bad. I like notepad jotting down/writing of things like that, reminds me of gardening in xi, I think its fun. It isn't required though, just convenient. I'd say the most inconvenient thing is forgetting that I have my game clock on Eorzea time. lol

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ

I gather a lot, so I tend to remember gathering spots/item slots especially if I need big quantities of them. I keep the in-game clock at eorzean time so I always know when I need to move.
In case I forget something or never gathered an item, a quick search on the Internet with my phone is more than enough.

This is not an unreasonable request. But I find it easy to do even when I am limited to one monitor.

Funny you should use a snarky response to reply on something you disagree with, that provides real insight to the topic at hand. Good job.ITT: people who do not wish to go out of the game to do in game stuff.

I think this could be easily solved with the following changes:
- When you use Toil of the Mountaineer on a node, it'd register the Eorzean time it spawns and specific area it spawns (instead of that ???) on your gathering log entry.
- When you first gather an item, it would register in which slot it is available.
This basically kills the need for any notes on website/notepad, and further adds to the game immersion of being a gatherer.
