    How to make money?!

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. I've been level 60 for a while now but my Gil seems to go down a lot. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to make money in the game?

I have no experience of gathering and crafting classes so I guess this would be something to look into?

Can anyone give me some tips and pointers?

Well, I make a ton of money gathering:

    1. Level up all gatherers (takes time and a few Netflix series)
    2. Adamantite Ore with King's Yield II (that's 25/half hour if you are lucky) OR fish up big fish and sell them to starving CUL OR ....I don't know I hate botanist I literally only use it for scrips
    3. ???
    4. Profit

You make more money if you craft guaranteed but... the gil investment early on is higher. But the returns are better.

    Edit:
    Oh also
Never use materia, always sell it for fat stacks of gil.

I did start levelling botanist... Looks like I know what I'm doing tonight! I will be streaming Walking Dead and levelling then.

For botanist and miner - if it's log or ore or alumen - just level off of gathering those and selling them. HQ stacks in smaller numbers, NQ in full stacks. Should start you off nicely. The rest well you'll get there eventually.

Also if you are running duty roulettes you get gil from those and mob kills and such.

With crafting and gathering, it all depends on what you do really. They can also be HUGE money sucks if you don't do them correctly (i.e.-buy all materials on MB instead of gathering your own or asking friends). Even worse when your friends aren't online and you end up buying their materials on the MB (yea... happened to me a few times, but we always refund each other).

Myself, I'm a Culinarian and Fisher, which I think is a great combo. If you add in Botanist too, it's pretty much perfect (but my FC has like, 5 lvl 50+ botanists, sooo I just let them run around). But I can say, people love food. Get a decent level and make some of the higher stuff (heck, even the lower stuff still sells well honestly). I used to sell food on the MB, but lately, my FC has come up with a plan for stockpiling ourselves, but with only 2 CUL doing it and 20+ players... uh, I don't really have the mats or time to spare :P (but there is money to be made there).

Also, shards, crystals, catalysts ALWAYS sell. They are needed for crafter's. People are always crafting. Prices are almost always high due to people selling low but in huge stacks.

Me personally, I like using Fishing for majority of my retainer income. I've found a few fish that just sell on a very constant and stable basis. So I just keep those coming in with my retainer and selling them in small stacks of 3-5 usually. The problem with the Market Boards though is they differ from world to world. In mine, Bluebell Salmon, White Coral, Red Coral, and just about any shark sells nice and high constantly. Bluebell are a bit iffy though. They come and go (like, I won't sell any for a few days, then all of a sudden, people are buying up all of them).

How much money are you looking to make, exactly?

The big gils are definitely in crafting/gathering. But retainers can pretty easily give you a maintenance income. Airships can also have a decent return though that's not something a newbie can just get into.

Sell low level crafted gears (find those golden items on MB); sell glamours; do maps and sell what you get from them (or craft stuff from it) and sometimes just find that item that sells for a decent price on MB but that you can get VERY cheap from vendors.
Pretty much how I make moneys without much effort... I sell glamour items like 1 in 2 weeks and do irregularly maps... gave to FC funds for buying a house a decent amount of gil and have since stopped donating (until we actually need the money) made back almost same amount which is 4 weeks.

Also easy money: Do your challenge log; dungeons; roulettes

About 2-3mil to keep on my character regularly. I usually end up spending money on glamours that I like. I just want pretty glamours. Haha, nothing too much! But it's annoying when I buy something and then end up broke for a while having no money for teleports and armour repair.

Keeping your retainer ventures churning will at least ensure you have money for teleports and repairs. The 18h ones give you Allagan pieces to convert to gil, quick ventures sometimes give nice items to sell.

Another player mentioned maps, which goes hand in hand with gathering. And glamor prisms. It's a bit of initial work to get gathering and crafting classes up but once there, maps, glamors, and selling low level gear (like the others suggested) can easily keep you in the 2-3 mil range.
