Pld Looking For Static That Doesn't Require Voip

Having been away awhile I'm at i193 now, although that should bump up to 200 and change fast enough with the Void Ark stuff and some Esoterics. I don't think present iLv should be a big deal honestly - I plan on sticking around for the long haul and iLv will catch up pretty soon. If you're focus on a static is just for a month or two, then that's not really what I'm looking for. I want a static that's not going anywhere.

I'm available evenings EST more or less all the time, although I can't stick around until way past midnight on nights before a 7:00am class.

If you're not looking for a Paladin to join your static, but are simply looking for a static yourself then send me a tell too. 8 people isn't that many, and we could always try and start something together.

Anyways, if anyone's interested, we can figure scheduling out in person. Just leave a post for me here (probably best) or send a message. You can always send me a tell too (Kristenn Chancerelle), but that might actually a bit hard in game since at the moment I really just hop on to cap esoterics, do my weekly void ark, and then hop back off since I have nothing else going on. I'd really like to change that, since it's very frustrating when you're not really able to access half the stuff in the game (the fun challenging half, no less).

PS: Since someone always asks why I can't use VoIP when I bring it up...

Real Answer: The real answer is sort of pointless, because if people "got it" then they wouldn't be asking... (and if they don't get it, they probably think I'm either an idiot or crazy. Maybe both). I just feel really uncomfortable listening to the voices of people coming out of games though. I don't want to say anything about "immersion" since that's super-vague and I'm not trying to role-play at all either, but its something I find unbearably grating.

FFXIV is just a fancy dance. If you want world firsts, then yes - I understand how VoIP could help. But otherwise, everything is on YouTube and elsewhere to look at. Anyone can use that to figure out what has to be done. It might take one or two in-game errors and a bit of discussion after an attempt to see what can be fixed, but before long you can get it and just do what needs doing. None of that requires VoIP: it just requires attention and some effort. Besides, in game communication and trying to see what can be fixed is something that should be done with or without VoIP. Anyways, I'm definitely not trying to convince anyone they shouldn't use VoIP. Just saying I don't.

The only real requirement I have other than not needing to use VoIP is that I won't join any Free Companies for a static. I'm in a FC of two now with someone I know, and have no plans on ditching it. If you had or wanted to make a linkshell for the static though, I'd be 100% in favor of that and would hop right on.


PPS: Even if you think this is a game that can't be successfully played without VoIP, why not give this a shot. If it's not working after a week or two, you can tell me and I can either gracefully walk away or try things your way. What's there to lose for trying, besides a few hours of runs at worst?

First off, happy bump and best of luck.
Secondly, I've been raiding a good long while and playing the game itself for even longer. I've also been running quality teams which have set a number of records in this content and previous content. One of THE best players I've ever had the pleasure of raiding with was a younger gentleman who did not have access to voips. This did not negatively affect his play in the slightest—infact I believe it helped mold him into the quality player that he is today. The lack of a voip whilst playing in a raid setting with 7 other people exercises a long lost trait, and that is the ability to pay attention to A; your job, B; all 7 other players, and C; the encounter. All at once. While not using a voip can be unappealing to some teams, just know that in the end you might just have something which a number of voipers do not, and that is the ability to pay attention.

Just by way of updating, I think I found someone making a static who'll let me in today (as long as no one else objects). So, fingers crossed and thanks to them, I think I'm set for now.
