I'm going to add some fuel to the fire here.

I am also experiencing R0 problems. Only in XP parties, though. It's only since 1.19 patch. I can assure you that it is not my system because I benchmark at 6199, have 12gb Corsair Vengeance RAM a GeForce GTX 580 with 3gb GPU ram and Motorola DOCSIS 30. modem craking out consistent 20Mbps connection.

I also have COX ISP and know that other linkshell members are encountering this lag in XP parties.

I hope they get this resolved soon. I would love to know if it is a cox or Square Enix issue.

I cannot level up my DoW jobs now, so this game is almost useless to me.

I'd like to comment that last night was the WORST for this issue. R0 was constantly occuring, and it was causing me to fail crafting leves, because it would not respond to me while im sitting there trying to craft. I would be working on a item, and have my crafting tool out, and then nothing for like 30 seconds, then suddenly i see "durability lost 2...4...8..." or w/e It was fine for the better part of the day, but evening got bad, then nighttime was horrid. I really hope someone is looking at these threads, this is a very bad issue.

If you guys could report who your ISP i, it might be helpful in determining if it is an ISP or Square Enix issue.

    Thank you!

Draco, did you call Cox Communications? Just curious. I can't tell whether it's an ISP or SE issue. My gut tells me it's on SE's side since there have been many reports of problems from all over.

I have a feeling that there is an issue with the ISP (COX) and their connection with the FFXIV game servers.

I logged in using my school's wifi and experienced no R0's whatsoever over a 3 hour span. The gameplay experience was completely smooth.

When I head home later tonight I'm dreading frequent R0's =/ (And like Arliman, the times I get R0's don't disconnect me, I just sit there waiting for my connection to recover)

What's strange is that at home there is no issue with any other internet based application or game, only issues with FFXIV. Heck, even dual boxing in SE's other game FFXI I don't receive any R0 problems.

I found that last night was the worst for me as well. I thought it might have been because I was trying to troubleshoot my modem and router by power cycling them and fiddling with the wireless settings, but maybe not.

Having the same problem, it isn't my router because i can play other games just fine, it isn't my ISP because everything else is running fine.

This only started after patch 1.19a.

Well man i posted this in the other thread about this but ill post here. I did some pings to the game server while at work, which is not on cox, and got the same results. I've pretty much been doing that all day. And i keep getting anywhere from 13%-26% packet loss. What this means is the connection is very faulty on their end for w/e reason. When it peeks at 26% loss, that is enough for you to disconnect from the server entirely really, or cause a spontaneous loss of connection. When i was doing these ping tests while i was on the game. The failed packets or "request timed out" always occurred at the same time i was R0ing.

So i know its not a cox issue. Well i mean there is still a possibility for it to be multiple ISPs having a issue, it kinda goes back to my original comment about how a major update broke something between isps and FFXI. But that is terribly complicated to talk about and i don't understand it fully myself. Plus i don't really even know if its related. But someone had found out there was something on the ISP(multiple) that was either blacklisting or throttling the connection that went out to FFXI servers. Id rather not think about this as a possibility because it can be extremely difficult to track and fix.

Also i know if i were to call cox they would simply refer to the game support. Its just the way it will go unfortunately.

Well the dropped packets have started up tonight. It seems like it happens during peak hours. I tried doing some pings from a computer at work but did not have any dropped packets. Yet when I use any computer at home behind my Cox Communications internet connection I drop packets left and right. Right now I'm only up to 7% packet loss. Last night I was over 20%.
