I like playing melee DPS.
DRG was my main for ARR, but I had MNK leveled up too. For HW, I went MNK because one of my friends wanted to go DRG, and I've been MNK since then.
I never really touched NIN because my latency was no good for mudras.
I main SMN because I have 3 cats.
I started as a dps in 2.xx mainly brd/smn but then there was a tank shortage around scob..well tanks who could do there job and I already had pld/war at 50 so played pld cause it was needed in our static been a tank ever since have all 3 at 60 along with a few other jobs but settled on drk cause it was the best of both world of swd with pld and better Emity and damage like war I still play all 3 but drk is my main
I like playing healers and started the game as a Conjurer/White Mage, but I decided to level Arcanist to get a DPS class/job. Well as I played more and more I fell more and more in love with Scholar, it was more interesting than Whm and I felt more useful in combat. I have since leveled EVERYTHING, but anything main storywise or that would involve my "main" job, it'll be Scholar until something else possibly comes down the pipeline.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
I can't prevent death on a comfortable level on whm, while on war I can for the most part.
Hmmm I just loved the outfit and generally prefer archers in most RPGs.
Well I always main tank classes in MMOs, with generally a melee DPS as an alt character (or dual-spec like in WoW, where I played prot/ret Pally) which I always consider very close to being my main too. In FFXIV, I started as a Marauder, but at level 15 I decided to level Gladiator too just to try them both in the first dungeon. I ended up seeing no difference (they play almost the exact same way at level 15), so I levelled Gladiator first to 50 because for some reason it had more XP than my Marauder. Mained Paladin until I finished levelling my Warrior some weeks after, and after that I didn't want to play PLD anymore. My starting class was the best choice hehe. I first levelled DRG as my secondary job, but then I levelled MNK and fell in love with it. So for almost the entirety of 2.X I've been maining WAR and MNK, but I've been forced to play PLD in SCoB for quite some time for an old static, so I did all coils with both tanks and MNK back in the days. In 3.0, I directly decided to level DRK first, because I was waiting for this job since I started the game (big fan of the job in FFIII DS and FFIV, DRK Cecil is the best Cecil). I ended up very enjoying the gameplay, very fast-paced, a lot of oGCDs, very very very fun and still not tired of it. I've made it my new main and I play it in Alex Savage. I also have PLD and WAR at 60, I still enjoy the hell out of WAR and it's still my first long-time main job in my heart, and I still play it very frequently outside of Savage (I also played it in A1S and A2S tho). PLD is useless right now but a bit more fun to play than at 50. I also have my MNK at 60 and I'm still having a blast with it. Best DPS job ever.

Mitigation style healing appealed to me. Turned out to be really good on SCH so i stuck with it since 2.0. After many many raids and many years later, i have switched to MCH for raids, but SCH i still count as main since it will take a long time to get to the same standard with any other class that i am at with SCH.
Also it is just filthy powerful as a class. Heal, prevent damage, deal damage......no other class can quite match it in FF14.
My first job was black mage, but the queues were long and at the time the lack of EU datacenters made my gameplay very difficult (looking at you Titan). I've yet to figure out how to get that stupid tab-target work better, so I figured healing would be easier with only F1-F8 targeting.
I wasn't too fond of white mage and at the time scholar was the only other option. It was the first time I played a healer with a pet, so I thought it was unique and interesting. I stress a lot, so the shields and Eos' backup help me to keep going without entering full-out freak mode like I do on AST and WHM (or when tanking instances I haven't memorized 100%). Back then I could also stay on Cleric Stance almost non-stop with Lustrate as my saving grace, so could pretend I was a wannabe summoner.
