How did you settle on your main?

Was it a one time job and you just loved it? Or you suddenly found one? I'm a really indecisive person for trivial things like these, and I can't really ever choose a job that makes me go: okay that's my main. So I wanna listen to you all how you got to choose your main, and if you want, your experiences

I never 'ave been able ta settle. Started life as a pally, drifted ta warria an' white mage, black mage too. Dragoon was fun...really liked bard. How can ya pick?

Though nowadays s'mostly warria an' black mage. Both're pretty simple, don' have a lotta stupid shite like dots. Jus' big numbers.

I settled with Ninja after playing Dragoon since launch. I found the class really fun to play, and I did great numbers on it as well. Since I was a bit disheartened at the position DRG was in at the time in terms of utility and DPS, I decided to switch to it. I was a NIN main in FFXI for a bit as well before the community (and subsequently SE) decided to turn it into a Tank and the meta shifted to NIN tanking everything. When NIN was announced as a DPS in this game, I was pretty ecstatic.

That's about the best advice I can give. Try out the different jobs, find what you find fun to play and go from there.

Mainly just ended up going with the class I usually play on other MMO's (if available) and because it's pretty much always my main in Ragnarok

Even in Dark Souls where archer is pretty much Super Extreme Hard Mode.

With everyone clamoring over DRK and AST before HW came out, I decided that I'd be in the minority and try MCH after I saw the gameplay teaser for it. The first time I tried it, it just kind of clicked for me. Unlike other classes where I felt like I had to learn the rotation, and practice them, with MCH it just seems to come naturally to me. Even when I make an adjustment to try and improve upon my rotation, it doesn't take a dozen attempts of it before I have it memorized, it takes one. Just something about the class feels natural to me. Unfortunately that whole "in the minority" thing only held more and more true as time has gone on, with other MCHs at endgame being even rarer than first-try clears of DFed Ex Primals.....

I used to main brd, because thats what I did for 2-3 years in 1.0. From closed beta up to closing for the "remake" of this game. I went to mch basicly because I waited the same amount of years for a gun class. But since mch is a brd 3.0, I didnt bother leveling brd to 60.

In 2.x I was a PLD because it was the only job with a sword.

In 3.0 I switched to DRK because I looked at all the stance dancing I was doing in A1S and was saddened by the fact that it cost a GCD and broke my combos.

Was a Summoner main in 2.x, saw MCH was going to be released so it was a toss up between SMN and MCH, then I saw Akh Morn in a SMN showoff and went with SMN. Then my group of friends/raid needed a mana battery so I went MCH and I love it.

Well I went with a tank because I healed in FFXI. And paladin was the one I liked most in 2.0 after 1.0 was blah. Then I got pulled back here by people who told me the story got better(They lied) and now i'm stuck playing this game because my friends want to. So i settled on my main in this expac based on what my friend's played.
