the game is not in beta. It was released and put for sale in shops.
The game was release in a state not fit for purchase. They could have shut the servers down, axed FFXIV and started work on a new project, cutting their losses, instead a development team has been working around the clock for over a year whilst we play for free.
Many people are using the excuse the game isn't ready to be paid for, yet you are all still playing. If you are playing FFXIV, you are using the servers, you are playing a released game. Free trial is over, the devs deserve to get some cash flow to fund future development. e.g. 2.0
The fact that 2.0 is on a different engine doesn't mean it isnt the same game. Our characters and items will carry over with us into the new version. You are playing 1.19a, 2.0 is coming.
Personally I think the game is almost ready to be paid for. Biggest Issues this game has right now is the wards and item search. I think SE is adding an AH to solve that problem before people begin to pay. Also 2.0 will feature the first new raid instance end game, the other instance r45 was not really end game to me a 1 hour instance with a timer is not really a end game event to me, but a cluster of people running and rushing getting frustrated. This new official end game raid instance introduced in 2.0 should be up to today's standards, and if it is, than this game is ready for p2p.
This game is not worth paying for, anyone who is willing to pay is settling, and just giving SE their money to see this game BECOME what it should of been made to be. I dont mind paying for a game thats done, but it seems most of you dont even care that the NEW DEVELOPERS say that this game has to be REMADE to be 100% enjoyable. When the developers say that, I find that people who are defending this game are just the same who defended it when it came out, blindly following SE till the ends of the earth. Well not me, I hope some decent people might read this and change their mind. You can do all those things in free to download and free to play MMORPGS so most of these arguements are just because you 'enjoy' the game and 'dont mind' paying for SE's mistake is the most common answer to not minding pay to play. You dont mind paying for their mistake.
And things may be fixed, but there are 2 instanced dungeons in the whole game now, and 1 raid boss fight. That is not even close to enough high end content to start charging. And the UI isnt that good in this game, theres still lag and you dont even see your auto attack half the time your using abilities, I dont know how people can defend this its insane.
I dont care how enjoyable the game is, when the new developers say they need to completely remake the game because they cant fix it, I dont see the point in paying for it and anyone who does is just throwing money at a horrible mistake the company made. I believe SE doesnt care if 90% of the population dies just as long as some people will give them the money they want, and apparantly they will. Sad really.
if the game is not in beta then how was it in a state in not *fit to purchase*. what does that tell you?
PS : i will say it thrice, iam not gonna repeat myself over and over again because the reason is already explained, dont shoulder the fault on me because iam not oozing my braincells thru my nose
What do you want them to do? Let you play for free until 2.0? Uhm no, are you stupid? The game is highly playable, stop trying to get a free ride... see you in 2013 bro.

no, this game is not highly playable, your just very ignorant and blinded. The developers even say this game is trash, they cant fix it haha. it doesnt matter what anyone posts after this now, The Makers of the game itself say it has to be remade to be fixed, it doesnt matter what anyone else says thats all it comes down to. If you guys want to pay SE for their mistake so bad, than fine, pay them. I will come back when the game is FINISHED like how its spose to be on release. It seems the pop of this game has their head so far up their own arse anyways...lol cant even see auto attacks right but this game is great! hahahahaha
There are two choices you can make:OK let me say that I'm not a complainer, I enjoy most all things. But, to be asked to pay to play a game that they have to remake because the game was made wrong the first time is insulting. I feel offended to be asked to pay money to play a game that the (new) developers feel they need to remake almost entirely to be a fully enjoyable experience. I can go into alot of detail for this, but we all know this game is not up to par, especially being as this is Square Enixs product, one of the biggest game companys today.
I am making this post and requesting that all reasonable individuals agree with me and please sign to this forum to show this not a reasonable course for action. Thank you.
-Wait until 2.0 and then decide whether or not a paid subscription is worth continuing to play this game. They may even include a free month so that you can try it and decide on your own.
-Continue to play, but realize that you're paying for additional DLC between now and until 2.0 If players expect new content, then they need to pay for it.
If you can't afford it, what are you doing playing a subscription type of game? Go to your "free" games if this is a burden.
i have played this game every day since the day i got it. (oh well there was 2 times i got drunk and never played but that only 2 time) anyway my point is how can you say the game is not playable. i see ppl playing it all the time. if u can play it. you can pay for it. that is how it works
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
