i always thought any1 that has enough time to play more than one MMO should get a job or a life or both. so you got WoW good for you. but what are you doing here this FF forum, not WoW forums your in the wrong placejust payed for my next years sub for wow...yea a full year..will get my d3 game when it releases and i get free beta invite to the new xpac... dont see why i should pay to play this beta when i get all that for what i pretty much payed for this game to begin with... yea i accualy payed more if you cound all the crap i did to my pc in order to ensure i could play the game smoothly...to bad even with a beefy pc the game wont run smothly till after the beta... i wont pay for this beta.
guess SE is charity for leting us play their beta for free....
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
I understand that SE needs income, but we are paying for a mistake until the new game arrives. At this point, who knows that will be redone and what will be kept.
I completely understand the need for money in a business. However, this game is far from out of beta. There is no end game content worth doing aside from Ifrit. Even then you kill him several times and you're probably done getting all the loot you need. They plan on releasing what, 1 more end game fight between now and p2p? That's not acceptable.
They will lose their high end crowd and kill the game for 50's. Will those people come back? Sure. But not until a year later when this game finally is worth playing. So what happens until then? You lose player base, current player base quits at the end game from boredom also. It's just bad for your community in game which is already severely lacking. P2P for a game with the most atrocious UI to ever hit the mmo market won't help either. I know of hundreds of MMO friends who will not play this game still to this day because of the UI. P2P should be put off another 6 months.
At this point in the game's development 'I don't want to pay for a beta' doesn't fly anymore. Most of the game's major issues have been addressed (although maybe not to your personal satisfaction), and the more glaring issues. Good progress has been made on the lack of content.I completely understand the need for money in a business. However, this game is far from out of beta. I see posts like this but can't help but think that behind it all is simply people who want the game to remain free indefinitely.
That and it's so easy to get to 50 now in parties, people will be at end game "cough one fight" in no time now.I completely understand the need for money in a business. Personally I think the game is almost ready to be paid for. Biggest Issues this game has right now is the wards and item search. I think SE is adding an AH to solve that problem before people begin to pay. Also 2.0 will feature the first new raid instance end game, the other instance r45 was not really end game to me a 1 hour instance with a timer is not really a end game event to me, but a cluster of people running and rushing getting frustrated. This new official end game raid instance introduced in 2.0 should be up to today's standards, and if it is, than this game is ready for p2p.
This is what you're paying for:
1. The ability to keep leveling your character to max. (rank 50)
2. The ability to build yourself a nest egg.
3. Access to quests, storylines, missions, and even game zones and areas that may no longer exist in FFXIV 2.0
4. Lasting friendships and companionship from others who like you went a year without homes, auction houses, mounted steeds...etc.
5. The opportunity to get REALLY use to being a Male Lalafell only to wake up one day upon the release of FFXIV 2.0 to be talked into changing into a Female Roegadyn...try explaining that to your friends at the first linkshell meeting post 2.0.
6. No MMORPG is ever finished...to use that as a reason not to pay is silly. This genre of game is designed to be 'never-ending.' As to the 'issues' SE really has fixed the majority of them that they are workable and not nearly as glaring at this point...and continue to fix them with each patch.
Lastly: If you went to the store and bought another non MMORPG game new it'd probably be $60.00ish. You'd probably get about 60 hours of gameplay out of that game assuming it was a good game. (so a $1/hr ratio) Even if you bought the CE edition of this game at full price, (somewhere around $80.00 if I remember correctly) SE has charged you nothing else to play the game for over a year. Most active players have well over 80 hours of gameplay invested. So you got a hecka deal.
Or another way of thinking of it: If you will average over 15 hours/month playing this game then you should be paying for it. If you think the game is crap, then you should ask yourself why you are playing it free or not. Free doesn't make it 'better'. But if you play the game at least 4 hours a week on average, then yes, you must like something about it, and SE deserves to be paid for that.
the game is not in beta. It was released and put for sale in shops.
The game was release in a state not fit for purchase. They could have shut the servers down, axed FFXIV and started work on a new project, cutting their losses, instead a development team has been working around the clock for over a year whilst we play for free.
Many people are using the excuse the game isn't ready to be paid for, yet you are all still playing. If you are playing FFXIV, you are using the servers, you are playing a released game. Free trial is over, the devs deserve to get some cash flow to fund future development. e.g. 2.0
The fact that 2.0 is on a different engine doesn't mean it isnt the same game. Our characters and items will carry over with us into the new version. You are playing 1.19a, 2.0 is coming.
