I was a GM and raid leader for 2000 Years, and we only used parsers to make sure our pets were doing their damage at the best rotations.
If they didn't we didn't point fingers either, WoW people don't do that, we skinned them alive and ate their remains, giving us their strength,

Also I only bring up WoW, in every conversations, when I need to prove how awesome I am.

Before the nonsense that was Savage Alexander came to be, most fights were balanced in such a way that the most surefire way of beating enrage was to do mechanics correctly. I'm having trouble thinking of wipes my raid group had that we couldn't directly attribute to some earlier mechanical failure.

If you need to "blame" any one person, you're already doing the "team" thing wrong.

Any third-party program that is used to analyze, modify or connect to Final Fantasy XIV is a bannable offense. Thems the rules. Parsers are not allowed. Yes Yoshi has said stuff on it, but the ToS are saying that NO third-party program is allowed, which includes parsers. Yoshi's comment on them is the legal team does not allow them, however if you dont post results, talk about using them etc then they have no proof you use one. If you post results and someone reports you, its bannable, just most people probably wouldnt cause they dont care. Its just your more likely to get reported if you start bullying people with the results.

No one gets banned for parsing. No one gets banned for talking about parsing. Ever. Its been publicly stated by the dev team. The only time anyone will ever get banned with any relation to parsing is EXTREME griefing. Even mild griefing just results in a warning.

Its just like the laws still on the books in some states in the US that ban anyone that's not a white male christian from holding public office. They're unenforceable.

From everything I have read it isn't against the ToS. In any way shape or form. You can even brag about using it ( derbie being banned ( or whatever his name ) was very wrong ( but notice they banned him from the forums not the game )). ACT does not do any form of data mining. What ACT does is take the text from the combat log and add up the damage then divide that damage by the amount of time you were in combat. If its bannable then SE needs to rework their tos because there is nothing stopping someone like me, RAIN MANISH who can add up numbers very quickly in my head as they scroll across the combat log, much like act. Guess I should be banned as a player.

However it is against the ToS to use that information to harass someone

I.E. You dps sucks, get a life = not okay
I.E. Hey man you did a great job dps = okay
I.E. Vote kick someone out of an instance because their dps is low = ok
I.E. You fucking suck then kicking them = not ok.

And that is exactly the reason why i object violently to any kind of parser. I call this harassement!
