Windows Server 2008 R2 Compatibility?

I just installed the game on Windows Server 2008 R2 to allow for others to play while they are at my place, since my server is the only other PC I have with the hardware to run the game.

Unfortunately, when I launched the updater to patch the game, it crashes instantly, and with all compatibility settings I have tried.

Is this happening on purpose, or just to me?

Is there any way to make the game playable on the Windows Server 2008 R2 OS?

Thanks for any help! (And no, re-installing Windows 7 is not an option. I actually use my server as a server too. =P )

At this stage of the games development I doubt they are even worried or looking into compatibility issues with OS's other then XP/Vista and Seven.

Server 2008 R2 isnearly identical to windows 7 on terms of compatibility in many ways, with only a few specific examples causing problems...
