People want GATEs more often, which I agree with. Problem is, with how few we have that would get stale really fast. So, here are a few ideas for new GATEs. I hereby release any right or intellectual claim to these ideas.
Main Event Stage:
O/X Quiz (Hosted by Master Typhon):
The classic minigame trivia staple, the O/X quiz. The announcer asks a question or makes a statement with a true or false answer (mix of real-life and in-game trivia). Players run to group inside areas on the ground marked with O for true, or X for false. After time to decide, red light status locks players in place. A barrier comes up around the correct answer, and Typhon spawns to snort everyone outside of that barrier (those incorrect or indecisive) off the playing field. Get 5 right in a row and win!
Get The Heck Out Or Dodge:
AoE insanity! Bombs, wind, water, rocks, all with one aim: to knock you off the stage. It's madness: dodging AoEs, using rubble to shield yourself from gusts, dashing from cover to cover, and finding any safe spot to stand. But if you have a keen eye for patterns and stay on your toes, you can last until the timer runs out and claim your prize.
Dirty Dance-Off:
The Lords and Ladies of the Dance are back. This time, they won't be testing your memory, but rather your reflexes. When you enter this GATE, you are automatically moved into position on the stage, with your movement locked. Your hotbar has an option to forfeit if you need to get control back for any reason. Once the GATE begins, you will see a sequence of WASD arrows and spacebars appear (or just plain arrows and X/A button circles for controller). You have a limited time to press the sequence in order. Timing is not important, simply speed and accuracy. You earn points for every correct arrow, and a bonus for a full successful set, which will cause your character to dance during the following set. Miss, however, and you are locked out from continuing the current set, and your character will stumble and fall instead of dancing while you attempt to recover in the next set. If you pass the minimum score, you earn the MGP reward.
Round Square:
Hide And Seeq:
Some madman has hidden bombs around the Gold Saucer in the form of plush seeq dolls. Find and disarm them all before they explode! Dolls could be anywhere on the main floor, so keep a sharp eye out.
Wonder Square:
Liar's Game:
That pesky imp is at it again! Stealing from a valued client, then disguising itself among a group of adventurers. Interrogate the lot, and find the liar among them!
A classic logic challenge. 5 statements: 4 truths, 1 lie. Use the statements to figure out which one must be false, and reveal the culprit.
