So just for fun:

What influenced your main character's name? Was it something silly? Something you've read in the past? Your favorite anime or Final Fantasy character?

For me, I chose "Deucalion" after the main character from Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein" series. The last name "Promethuson" being the fact that in Greek mythology, Deucalion was the son of Prometheus.

So what about the rest of you? What's the meaning/history of your character's name?

Toss up between Dragon force and Warsong for me.. But they sure don't make games like either of those two anymore. Not even SE.

My char name is a truncation of the old character I used to play with in various other games, Kitaja

That game is the reason I still have my Sega Saturn and it is easily in my top 5 all-time favorite games.

As for my character name, the first name has no real signifigance and the last name is from the Dresden Files book series. I figured it fit since the main character of the books is a thaumaturge and that is the class I started with.

i have lost count of how many times I've played dragon force. it's one of my favorite games of all time.

mine's because of ultima VIII and a medieval dutch story. before i changed it, the last name was a reference to phantasy star.

I was mostly aiming for a FF sounding name which meant either something related to weather or something pretentious in Latin. Or both!

So

Gale = a very strong wind.

Valerian = A Latin name and a Roman emperor, name means "strong, healthy". It's also the name of a plant. I was going to go with "Erion" which also means "Wind" but "Gale Erion" doesn't have as strong a ring to it. I was amused to find out the Valerian set was a thing at the end of Heavensward.

In the FFXIV theater that is my brain Gale's birth name was "Galenaeu" but he calls himself "Gale" because he thinks it makes him seem awesome.
