[SPOILERS] Bothered by the story of Fordola in 4.1 MSQ?

Do not read this until you have cleared the 4.1 MSQ or don't mind any spoilers.

Doesn't the story about Fordola and her parents bother you? I'm not just talking about the redeeming of Fordola, but also the vindication of her parents and the honorary citizenship itself. As a person who lives in a country that has a history of colonization, the story about her parents sounds completely absurd.

Her father was killed by the mob's stone throwing on the middle of the street?! That's just too unrealistic. The honorary citizenship was a power to rule over the colony instead of the imperial citizens. The part when a mere imperial officer ignored Fordola's mother... If the officer in the real colony did that, he will be on trial! That's how valuable the citizenship is for the imperialists because it's one of the most efficient ways to rule a colony.

I really enjoying the 4.1 patch, but I'm really disappointed by the MSQ.

I"m sure you heard the whole Cutscene but I'll explain their logic in case you missed it.

Basically the whole reason why the Commanding Officer allowed it to happened is because he said it would tire out the citizens and make them more complacent to be able to let steam off on said honorary citizens. And further in it's explained by Fordola to her Mother that the Imperials in general still don't see them as "honorary citizens" while the Mother may be able to live a life of comfort her life is still lesser than an Imperial life. This is why she ends up joining because not only does she want to be recognized as an equal by the Imperials, but she also wishes to get revenge over her Father's death.

I get the logic in the game, but the depiction itself is distorting the image of the honorary citizenship itself. The honorary citizenship isn't something that's made up. It was very real and was not like in the game. For those who have interest in the history about colonization would know that the game's just describing it differently, but those who are not can get wrong image about the honorary citizenship in real world too.

Unlocking the prima vista airship actually shows more of the garleans ideas than the MSQ and even that sidequest in the peaks does.
Treatment of honorary citizen and colonies are very varied and depends on the ppl in charge of things.
Even that quests shows it as the officer said that but the man right beside him was ready to stop the mob

Thing is though, while the countries in this game have real world analogues they /aren't/ the real world. This is a fantasy game that can take concepts that work in the real world and then change them around to fit their needs. Garlemald is basically Rome, but it doesn't have to always behave /like/ Rome and follow it's real life examples to a 'T'.

Hmm... maybe I was so sensitive because When I heard of Garlemald the first time, I thought of Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan, not Rome, and that thought kept on going. I guess I maybe worrying to much about a fictional story.

Atleast you pay attention to the story.. most of my friends skip the CS when it seems to me that the story is one of the main reasons to play the game lol. But I get what you are saying and can see how that would bother you..
