    Keeping emnity at lvl 30

I usually play MDR, but have recently begun leveling GLA with a group of people from 30.

We have a THM, CNJ, PUG, LNC and myself all lvl 30-33, I am 30.

I have provoke, taunt, warmonger, wardrum, disorient. Intimidation equipped.

I am finding that when beginning a leve, even if I, the LNC or the PUG hits the mobs first, and I use my first provoke or taunt, the mob will just attack the THM, even if he hasn't cast any spells yet.

After a second taunt/provoke, or in extreme cases warmonger and wardrum, I can turn the mob around, but after the first cure, he runs straight back to the THM instantly.

We are getting by, I can spam Cure the THM along with the CNJ, the LNC and MNK just kill the mobs while we do that, but I'm sposed to be the tank.. right?..

Can anyone give me some advice on why this is happening, or what I'm doing wrong?

Im using frostbite as my sword, and the shield of the savage.

Just noticed this is kind of a duplicate post, oops.

Don't worry about that - we're used to it

Yesterday when I was playing Gladiator with 4 other people, I knew there was no way I could hold hate over the lancer who was 2 levels higher than me. So what I wound up doing is when we got links of 2-3 mobs, I'd hold the other two while everyone attacked the first pulled in. Second wind seemed to help a bit, to pull extras off of the lancer since he seemed really, really squishy.

My friend's still having issues at 40 on gladiator with just a conjurer with him.

Equip a cure on your bar, when someone pulls a mob, cast cure on them immediately. Afterwards spam your abilities. Also, when you get cover, use that like crazy. Accomplice is great too.

32 GLA here and while it is hard to keep enemies focused on you it is certainly possible. I normally level in grind parties of 4 to 8 people so I always try to be the first one to engage the mob. This way the additional links will target you first. Throw up war drum (cost free and short cooldown) and try and do an AoE WS as soon as possible. Afterwards you have to try and rotate all your enmity abilities while keeping up the AoE WS. If there is a MRD spamming his AoEs in the party though, well good luck. Might be better to just let him do the tanking while you relax a bit.

Casting cure on yourself or other people is a great way to increase enmity very fast as mentioned. Unfortunately, unless you have siphon MP or stygian spikes you will run out of MP after only a few casts.

44 Glad here, been in the same place as you before (recently reactivated in 1.19 and got back to my GLA 19, so I only leveled up post 1.19)

Gladiator wise, i'd say the game is broken. FFXIV is all about having multiple classes, and I like that. But to have to level 3 additionnal classes to be a decent/normal tank is broken to me.
To be able to hold aggro properly you need:
    • Gladiator 30 , well obvious, it is supposed to be your main class. Provoke ( Provoke II @ 40, feels like provoke is useless and need tuning, the II is way better), Cadence at 26, you need Heavy Slash (lvl20, 8k marks @ gladiator guild),
    • Shield 30: to get Cover (22), Wardrum @30
    • MRD: to get Defender @10, Disorient @ 18, Warmonger @ 30, Intimidation @ 30 (8k guild marks) and some TP WS like Trunk splitter II
    • Pugilist @30: you need Second Wind @ 6 and Taunt @ 10, Accomplice @ 30
    • Conjurer @ 30: to get Cure @ 4, Cure II later on @ 20. (@14 you got raise, handy in a pt sometime )

I started being able to properly tank (keep hate when I want it) only when I got all of the following list of skills except Accomplice and Cure II, that I feel like mandatory to properly finish my leveling as gladiator to 50, at least trying to fill my role in a party. I may have to level THM20 too, to get Siphon MP, because I end up being OOM on non stop chaining, thus limiting my ability to keep agro at some point. I know, it feels stupid to stop a whole party because the gladiator needs MP while the CNJ/THM don't.

Gladiator is broken, shield skills like shield bash should get way more enmity. Top xp party tank at the moment is marauder: has kind of the same HP, can wear the same armor, does sh**load of AOE damage, has a build in stance to generate aggro that works (defender), it is the tank if you take it without other jobs. To be able to be a proper tank as a glad in pt and later a boss tank, you need 4 jobs, that's a bit other the top where most classes get away with 2 jobs (main / sub in fact).

I like the role, I'm enjoying the game, it just feels broken to me, and will obviously turn away a lot of players from the class, that's for sure.
