The key part is underlined. The fact is that you could eventually get there (nevermind that with the Diadem, you could probably get there fairly soon anyway). So why should we not be able to eventually get that far with crafting? For instance, I wouldn't care if it costs 900 red scripts to buy another specialization so long as I didn't have to give up any of my existing ones.

I actually wouldn't mind that too much given that a lot of the best stuff that needs to be desynthesized anyway is untradeable. Of course, then I'd wonder why have a separate desynth level from crafting level in the first place. It would have been a serious pain if from the beginning I had to worry about leveling up the repair side of crafting to enjoy that benefit.
