PS4 Dual Shock Controller to PC

I'm wanting to play FFXIV on my PC using a controller, both controllers I use now (Xbox One and general Mad Katz) do not function correctly as expected when playing FFXIV, the action bars don't switch to the controller format. I've read the Dual Shock will "pickup" the game controls quite easily because of the PS4 port.

Is using the DS4 controller on the PC pretty straight forward, I'm guessing just tweaking controls in the options menu. Dozens of videos state you have to go through multiple programs to get it to "read" like a Xbox controller for other games. I JUST want to play with the dual shock in FFXIV.

TL;DR: If I go buy a Dual Shock from Gamestop today can I plug it in and play with it on my PC with little to no messing with additional work?

Even before didn't need the 3rd party programs cause few things use the vibrations and touchpad is pretty useless in XIV anyways, just needed to edit a config file. But in the 3.1 patch I believe that made it where the dualshock 4 will work with XIV without having to do anything special.

out of the box it comes with a pretty easy setup that I use for my BLM it works nice with no messing around or extra work. If that's what you're looking for.
