I edited the post later which people after that seem to not read as it was stated it was aimed to be more of a joke thread which people found no humor in and took way to seriously. I posted it here cause shared it online in the game and as some did point out like other did in this thread they also saw the humor in it also which no one here did.

With as much as what seems to be jokes are actually dead serious OPs, can you blame us?

Perhaps they could have used "Critical Maintenance" instead...may have some weird translation issues though, who knows.

Either way it is unscheduled maintenance. For such instances it is not uncommon to refer to them as emergency. The wording may seem a bit strong, but it has a purpose. This is not something they wanted to hold off on any longer than they could. Once QA testing was complete they wanted to put it out there for us as soon as reasonably possible--and that meant scheduling it where it might impact the playerbase the least.

Imagine the $h!t -storm if they completed testing and took things down for 5 hours Saturday or Sunday during a more universal primetime. The time chosen was a compromise.

Unfortunately OP, everyone signed a contract that the Devs can and will shut down servers at any point in time.

This is written in the ToS.

5. INTERRUPTION TO THE SERVICE

From time to time, in order to provide our customers with the optimal gaming experience, it is necessary for Square Enix to conduct routine maintenance on the computers and/or servers that support the Game. During these times, access to the Game or support services may be interrupted. Access may also be temporarily suspended in whole or in part, without notice, due to emergency repairs, fire, flood, explosion, war, strike, embargo, governmental action or failure to act, the act of any civil or military authority, act of God, or by any other causes beyond Square Enix's control, or any other reasons for which Square Enix, in its sole discretion, deems that temporary suspension is necessary. You acknowledge that disruptions of service may occur and waive any causes of action against Square Enix in any way arising from or related to any such disruptions of service.

So suck it up and go outside.

IE. Technically by complaining you are going against ToS and you can get banned.
