Emergencies can be planned ahead of time?

Anyone else find it funny that maintenance tonight was listed as "emergency" maintenance? Even though they had it listed as they were doing it more then 12 hours in advance. I thought I would just stick that out there cause I found it funny. The image was attached to a tweet which is why is has the #FFXIV in the image.

Emergency has different connotations when applied to maintenance though. By "emergency" they mean "we want to hotfix something before the normal patch day (perhaps because it's potentially game-breaking?)," not "because someone's life is in jeopardy."

Here's hoping it's a Duty Finder fix, cause that's been a real bear.

I am thinking they've hopefully found a fix for the Duty Finder which is working under their testing so it would be an emergency maintenance to apply the fix and make the duty finder pops a lot more frequent now

They knew what to fix but were waiting over the weekend to make sure they had it right I believe...that said I thought they would wait till their usually hotfix day, maybe they did find something else that made them decide to do it now?

I was more pointing out that I would list emergency maintenance as "hey sorry for no notice or warning but we got to shut down the servers in 30 minutes to fix something"

Emergency maintenance is basically something that's unscheduled, it doesnt have to be like 1 hr before it happens they can announce emergency maintenance like 1-2 days ahead of time.

Regarding the issue with the Duty Finder Roulette we informed you about separately, we have confirmed during the investigation/tests we conducted this weekend that a fix would cause no further problems, so we will be addressing the issue with this Hotfix.
