    Horrid Lag on Behemoth

Since about a week ago, I've experienced horrid lag spikes in dungeon and raid content. Everything will just freeze and then a few seconds later everything reappears in a totally different spot, which makes dungeons neigh unplayable.

I've never had this issue before, and it's definitely not my hardware. I sincerely doubt it's my ISP or connection, considering I tried pinging the NA Dataserver and did it in .48 milliseconds and everything else except XIV works fine on my PC.

I have the same problem but on Leviathan. Everything freezes and reappears a bit further on. Even when someone is just walking forward they stop then move then stop then move.

Nothing wrong with my ISP either, so I'm beginning to think this might be a problem with the data center.

    Check this reddit thread:

It pretty much explains why /I/ have been lagging like a bitch all week. It seems like a LOT of people are having this issue but most don't think SE will do anything about it.

This seems to be effecting a ton of people and mostly with Comcast customers from what I can tell on the subreddit forums and here. Myself as well as several FC mates have been having severe lag issues after 8pm est EVERY f'in night for the past week!

It's getting a little absurd and it would be nice to see SE at least acknowledge the known issue. I play several online games and FF14 is the ONLY one giving me lag/latency issues recently, so I know it's something SE will need to resolve with the ISP's. Maybe if they wouldn't have chosen the lowest bidder for their herp-derp archaic server tech we wouldn't have these random problems all the time! SMH

I, for one, have done my part running trace routes and providing the feedback to my ISP (comcast), but that's about the only thing we can do...other than just un-sub, which I will likely be doing before the next billing cycle if this isn't addressed soon!

Most likely a problem along the specific path you are taking to the datacenter, not the datacenter itself. At least, that is the usual cause. Could test it with a VPN...if it improves, then it definitely is your routing. Otherwise, run a series of traces to see if there are signs of elevated congestion and forward them to your ISP's Tier3 support to help them conduct a more proper investigation.

Here are the registered DNS names and IP's and such for the original NA/EU lobby server addresses:

    neolobby02.ffxiv.com (Aether - NA - 199.91.189.74 - Ormuco in Canada)
    neolobby04.ffxiv.com (Primal - NA - 199.91.189.93 - Ormuco in Canada)
    neolobby06.ffxiv.com (Chaos - EU - 195.82.50.9 - KDDI in Germany)

Never did a match-up of the Japan lobbies, but they use the odd numbers 01, 03, 05 in their names (neolobby01.ffxiv.com, etc.)

If it is indeed problematic routing, your ISP can and should be working to resolve it on your behalf. Their policies dictate who you peer with to get to another ISP's network like Ormuco (SE's ISP in Canada). If they can't/won't work something out to improve quality of service with that peer, they can switch to an alternate peer. Ormuco has agreements with 5 top-tier ISP's for access to North America. Most last mile ISP's should have agreements with at least 2 of them, if not more. Most of the big ones will peer with at least the key 3: Level3, Cogent, and TATA. Comcast and several other of the really big names actually peer with all 5.

Funny and sad, but its an issue on the ISP pathing side. WTFast did solve this. Too bad for Ps4 users.

Having this issue on Diabolos since maybe 3-4 days ago now, with Cox ISP, and in the morning [still] EST. So it isn't just Comcast and/or in the evenings. I can't remember ever having lag this intrusive on 14, so it isn't a normal issue for my ISP either.
