How will you feel if you pay for a year and the game FLOPS

Many people were -very- upset when they payed for collectors edition of FFXIV and then got a half-done beta of the game that essentially sucked.

So if -you- stay with the game and pay the monthly fee only to have FFXIV 2.0 be a repeat of FFXIV, how will you feel?

Going by history there's a good chance it will happen, especially if they want to release for the PS3 since people may already be pre-ordering ps4's by the release (possibly automatically making FFXIV outdated console wise, especially with all the negative ps3-press from hackings).

So basically if they rush out this new 2.0 and mess it up, are you going to stick with the game for another year while they fix it? Or give up on SE MMOs.

edit: put another way. are you alright with paying for a beta even if the final product has a high chance of failure?

    Personally I'll probably be gone.

How will you feel if I tell you that it's only been a matter of hours and I'm sick of the negativity around here already?

If the company was competent in releasing polished content then people wouldn't be negative. The negativity is a direct response to the companies inability to release successful patches. Even this new patch came with the powerleveling exploit which was "intended" until it generated large amounts of outrage.

If they can't even pull off a patch without creating mounds of controversy why would they be able to pull off an entire new version of the game successfully?

Funny. Because in my view, they ARE competent in releasing polished content. THe whole reason this revamp is taking place is to allow them to polish things beyond what they can do with the current systems that were designed poorly before the new team took over.

Other than the "oops" bug that was enabling power leveling to be so easy, I don't see these mounds of controversy. I see a lot of intelligent discussion, and some trolls posting nonsense.

Sadly, that's how forum trolls are. They create controversy over every little thing. Most will be leaving once P2P is back, hopefully.

But on topic, I think they won't flop 2.0. Why? Yoshi is at charge this time, and he's done a good job (for me at least) so far.

I'll feel great that I didn't listen to a bunch of fools who have no clue what they are talking about - even if the game does flop.

I've been playing for four months now, I've enjoyed every minute of it, I have no real complaints at this time; but, that's because I think complainers are some of the worst people I've ever met, and I won't miss them if they don't stay. At all.

    How about this concept:

Pay the monthly fee for use of the game for that month and enjoy the month. If you no longer are enjoying the game, don't keep paying a monthly fee for a game that is to come (v2.0).

I think its now obvious that they haven't been putting there all into what they have been adding to this version of the game. The content and fixes we have been getting are things that could be put together pretty quickly yet it still takes them forever between patches.

Now we know why. They are making a whole new game to replace this one with. And that has likely been taking up most of their time for the past year. We have been playing a beta test and thats all these patches have been. testing content to see what direction they wanted to go with in version 2.0. I dont think its been their intent to really fix this version for almost a year now, but instead use it as a test for the next version.

Not that im not enjoying the ride we are on, just saying why content updates have been so lackluster.
