I mean, congratulations on having good gear and putting a bunch of effort into the game, but some people just don't care as much. Is an additional 10 STR and 20 Attack really going to make such a difference that without it the guy will be useless? No.
Useless? No. But are there 99 other people who are simply better by a significant margin? Yes. When I get to choose between pretty good and very good, I pick very good. Perhaps you find this a puzzling concept?

I'd much rather play with someone who is undergeared and cool than some douchy neckbeard who insists I go farm for four hours so I can have "optimal" gear to play the game in the optimal way.
Yes, because obviously everyone who do the things they do properly are strange, douchy nerds with neckbeards. You might as well throw the good old unibrow as a cherry on top of your insulting generalization. BTW, why are you posting on these forums? Shouldn't you be doing a keg stand or something?

The trick, like anywhere else in life, is to be the first to be nice.
^This. If you're willing to just talk to people and listen, you'll find things will tend to go a lot smoother.

Wow, way to discriminate. There are good and bad people in every community, and I'm honestly quite sick of everyone jumping on the "WoW players are all idiots" train. It's not true, and it never was. If everyone in WoW seemed like a jerk to you, it's probably because you were being a jerk to everyone else. Like Wolfie pointed out, people are willing to treat you with as much respect as you treat them. If you treat other people with respect, you will receive respect in return. It's that simple.

    Well said.

It's the people, the kindness, the friendliness, and the good-natured community of players in MMORPG that keeps me coming back for more. I do not believe in automatic grouping system. I prefer to spend an hour to communicate with players that WILL become my party members, even though it's just for a short day of mission or dungeon. I would hate to randomly be thrown into a party or forced by the system to group up with an asshole.

The days when MMO's where like that are long done, if that's what you enjoy you should consider FF11, SE have said time and time again they want FFXIV to be casual friendly, so of course they are going to have group finders and things to make playing the game more open to casual play.

Then don't. Spend that hour and form the group outside of the tool, using whatever resources you have available to you--linkshells, friends' lists, creeping on people over /tell, whatever you want. You have that option, and a lot of people take advantage of it so they can play with a few friends or people from their server, using the tool to fill out the rest; the rest would rather go about their in-game day, letting the tool assemble the group on their behalf.

In my personal Opinion with Dungeon finder people will not care to worry about "waiting" for others and the sense of community might get a blow...

TBF I don't like to wait for random strangers regardless, it shows a lack of respect if people keep you waiting around.

I don't mind so much if its a LS member but im not guna waste my day for a random nobody.

Yes of course I would stick to my old-school method of assembling my group. ^_^ If we're allowed to bypass the autogroup system.

And nope, Jinko, thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass. I played FFXI for 5 years and left for FFXIV.

I am happy to see they are adding this feature, it is one I kinda missed from WoW. In my experience, people generally still did most of the dungeons with their guilds, and I always saw trade chat filled with people looking for members (sometimes just the tank) from their own server. If you don't like this feature then simply don't use it. Features like this are convenient to people who don't have a ton of time to play, though.

It is quite obvious that Square wants to allow both casual and hardcore players play in harmony in FFXIV, and a feature like this would facilitate that. Casual players, and sometimes even "hardcore" players sometimes like to just log in and get something done with what small time they have on a particular day. Heck, I am sure plenty of you saying you won't use this feature will find yourselves with only 1-2 hours of play time one day, log in, queue up for some group activity and really appreciate it.

And on the note of "WoW has this and it sucks" - Just because you may have seen it play out badly in WoW, doesn't mean that FFXIV can't do it right.

Conversely, if you find certain people to be awesome, or much more enjoyable to play with, you can "like" them, and it'll try to group you with those people again in the future if all other conditions match, they're available, etc.

This way people can create their own filtering system and it affects no one but them.
    This is a good idea.

I would hope for this feature as well.

Different standards of play are exactly why people should be able to make and join parties that meet their own expectations, and an auto-group function doesn't meet that need.
