    FF crashes on boot

    Details:
The game crashes immediately after I hit "play" on the loader and it boots up.

    Steps:
Always does it, no matter what I do. I set all the graphics down, tried running in administrator mode, changed the font settings, upgraded my drivers, downgraded my drivers, reinstalled FF, and ran it in compatibility mode. Every single time I tried to run it, crash. "FFXIV has stopped working." HALP PLOX!

    Date & Time:
    Always.

    Frequency:

Under certain conditions: Whenever my hopes get raised.

    Platform:
    Windows PC.

    PC Manufacturer & Model Number:

Acer Aspire 5740-6378, designation: "The Alabama Night Train"

    Operating System:
"Blessed" with windows 7 home premium.

    Graphics Card:
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD. Pretty sure it's made of cardboard and children's wishes.

    ISP:
    Charter. From the moon!

    Type of Internet Connection:
Cable, but powered by a series of moogles on circular treadmills. I cut their pom-poms off if they're not fast enough.

Anyway, I've tried pretty much everything I can think of to fix it, but thinking isn't my strong suit, so I figured I'd let you guys take a whack at it. Best of luck!

Have you checked if your firewall/f-secure/avg/norton is blocking the FFXIV?
Have you opened the ports for FFXIV?

I would also check the Internet Explorer security settings. There is no need to open any ports for ffxiv (only for the patcher). It's also worth trying to move the final fantasy XIV folder inside your documents/my games/ to the desktop, run the config program and try to run the game again.

I'm having the exact same issue for my Alienware laptop (m15x) but on my work laptop (lenovo W500 - yes its substandard but it works for my mule) FF14 is working just fine. Both are using wireless connections.

Update: I tried restarting my computer and had 8 pending Windows updates that it need to complete installing. Upon completion of updates and reboot FF14 is working fine now.

Well my firewall tells me it opens a UDP connection all the time they are useing different ports each time now O.o

Go on FFIXV setting UPnP port Mapping put there the port you are going to forward.

Again: The UPnP setting is only for the patcher and not for the game. The game uses two specific TCP ports only and they are opened upon installation. No need to forward them either as the client(player) connects to the server(SE).

i had the issue with my asus G73, the most up to date driver supplied by asus was too outdated to run XIV, had to get drivers not supported by asus and do some bios flashing for it to work
