This 100%. Though I would go as far as to say that having a weapon appropriate to a dungeon's level is crucial for a healer. You shouldn't be taking much damage so taking less damage is (almost) moot. Healing more and doing more damage helps everyone. If you can heal a tank to full with one Cure II rather than a Cure > Cure II (or whatever) then you save time and, generally, MP. Also it allows your Regens to heal more allowing more DPS down time. You shouldn;t really bat an eye at how useful a Weapon is for a healer. I would argue it's just as essential for healers as it is other roles because it effects DPS and healing.
Grats on the first 50 if you need help on anything you can look me up and I would be glad to help ya![]()

Unlock and do all of the level 50 dungeons! They're a fun break from the level 60 ones since there are so many more. They give XP now too (just a bit anyway) and tomestones so you can get your 120 gear (and 130 upgrade mat, carbontwine). Also you can get encrypted tomestones (300 poetics) to use with rowena tokens (poetics) to get 120/130 weapon. If you unlock the lvl 50 dungeons you should have enough to get pretty much a full set by the time you are done. The 130 gear is good until level 55 dungeon gear. Also in the patch 2.5? questline you get the 110 gear for your main job.
