Game is going through first time set up again?

I posted this in the tech support section about an hour ago and haven't received any type of response so I'm giving it a go here. I have been told to go through the initial first time set up of the game even though I have played actively since the launch of A Realm Reborn. I logged out last night roughly around 3am cst and everything was running smoothly and logged in and out periodically throughout last night. It seems as the game somehow deleted every patch and thinks I am playing the game for the first time which isn't anywhere near the truth. I've checked mog station and everything is ok as well as my character on lode stone and again checks out ok. I've asked my two friends about this and neither of them have experienced this with their numerous logins today, so I'm at a complete loss right now.

Are you running the Steam version of ARR? If so, it is known for often deciding to 'verify' the game files against the version it's OWN system says they should be. If it decides they don't match (they rarely do) then it restores it to vanilla 2.0. =(

The solution is to ensure all the Steam verify options are deselected but you'll still have to let it fully update again.

I'm running the Ps4 version of the game and I have never heard of of this version losing all the patches. I currently have the patch from February 2nd 2015 being redownloaded. Even more so my Ps4 just told me about an hour ago that 3.48 was downloaded despite it actually going live on the 30th and me playing before and after that day.

While it's probably a big bother your characters are completely safe because they are stored on the server. You might have to redo your personal settings though.

I've had one issue with a Destiny update but that was more on my end of the net dropping during the update. However with 14, I haven't had any issues with this game in terms of corruption. I followed the correct ways to log out of the game as well instead of closing from the psn menu as well. Which is what brings me back to the issue of the game "losing" the updates since I played last night at 4am cst, how did this happen with that 8 hours of me not being logged in? Not a single thing through the lodestone or mogstation has been altered, so I'm more inclined to think this is a psn/ps4 issue that somewhere somehow failed to properly backup or shut off my console.

On PSN, each hotfix is considered a different "update" by PSN. What he's referring to is in the PS4's notification menu that it listed that it was downloading update "3.48", which was the hotfix from last week. It's done this way because Sony has to keep a data listing of every single version of a game that passes through their system, so while the "official" version for the game is 3.1 right now, the actual version is 3.48. How exactly these numbers are decided upon, however, I have no clue.....

From the way you described it, it's entirely possible that this was caused by a glitch on your PS4. By chance, do you use the rest mode function rather than shut down, and if so, did you have a power outage between your last play sessions, even briefly? If so, it's possible that some sort of glitch occurred that deleted your update data? I've honestly never heard of such a glitch before on the PS4, but that's the only thing I can think of beyond some sort of hard drive failure.....
