    This issue has plagued my FC since release. We used to joke about people getting off wifi and that we would mail them a 100 ft. ethernet cord to plug straight in. First it was a couple from NE Canada, then it was a couple from NW Canada, and now its me and my other friend in south Florida. Same time at around 7-10 pm EST. We got to the point where we don't even raid together anymore because its impossible to play during these times and are the only times we can all get together. We all met in 1.0 and continued playing together until all this started and destroyed our ability to play together.

    This issue started for me when I was in diadem. We all soon realized through shouts that most that were affected were on PC and using Comcast. PS4 seemed to be unaffected.( due to PSN? do they run different routes to SE servers?)

    I find it strange that we haven't even has somewhat of an update on whats going on. Just looking at all the posts there seems to be evidence where the problem is. It has been a few days short of 2 months since this post was created.

    My husband played this game over a year ago and said he had the exact same problems as what is going on now. This problem as you said has been going on for much longer then Square Enix wants to admit. When I asked him about it he said he was told that the game uses certain ports that make it appear to be peer 2 peer filesharing and that many ISPs throttle known filesharing ports. I would think that PSN uses different ports then the PC but I'm talking about stuff I don't know much about. I will say that my pings are low despite having a large packet loss which to me feels more like being throttled then internet congestion which would also cause a high ping.

    Isn't this a net neutrality issue if it is in fact throttling?

    Absolutely agreed. Having dead silence from SE on this topic, tied to a lack of stuff to do until 3.2 comes out, really has me considering suspending my subscription. I don't want to spend what little time I can every day watching everything stutter and lock up.

    Based on the chart/log after playing WTFast lost 0 packets the regular connection lost 309. That is the problem.
    WTFast routes user around the trouble point(s), so it was a great bandaid fix until they removed the free service and require users pay now, which combined with the usual FFXIV monthly charge is more than I want to spend on an MMO.

    This thread, created on 12/04/15 is at the time I write this nearly 2 months old. This thread has nearly 24,000 views.

    The other sticky topic, a welcome thread, created in 2013 has only 16,000 views.

    Based on that observation alone one can deduce there are a lot of people suffering from this problem.

    It's cause they really dont care to fix the issue. Its awesome! I mean you see like 5 people AFK everywhere I go and they dont get DC apparently but Active players do.

    Is it possible the issue could be with some Square servers as well? I noticed that two of your IP addresses always give me packet loss, and they did on the below report.

    I have a certain advantage in that I have two ISPs: Comcast and AT&T Wireless (through my phone). I do not have any packet loss on AT&T Wireless. The game is 100% playable on my phone's internet sharing.

    I can't do a pathping because either my phone or AT&T blocks the required ICMP packets for it. However, running a long ping test (5000 packets), while I get 18-24% packet loss on Comcast, I get 0% on AT&T Wireless.

    Latency Issue

    State/Country: California
    Date/Time: This problem occurs nightly anywhere between 4pm to 8pm pst.
    Frequency: Everyday. It has been happening for about a week.
    Content: Whole world
    World: Excalibur

    So after reviewing the forums, this seems to mainly be a Comcast problem and it starts at 4 pm pst (7 pm est). And there does not seem to be any point in contacting Comcast about this issue as most people have received a "not a problem on our end" reply. I really hope that this gets resolved soon, it really is frustrating when there is a problem that you have no control over.
