    Yet another latency complaint!

    Date/Time: This problem occurs nightly anywhere between 7pm to 12am eastern.
    Frequency: Nightly! Lag spikes occur roughly every 10-30 seconds, with the occasional smooth spots of a few minutes.
    Content: This issue occurs in all content! Overworld, instanced dungeons, inn, you name it!

    Okay! Here's where I get to have fun. So I traced the route off the server's IP that I ripped from the resource manager and pinged a silly number of packets off the server to get a feel for the frequency of packet loss. Seeing no more than 25 consecutive packets without loss at its best, I decided 50 packets was a fair enough number to ping off of each IP tracing my hops back till I found one without issue. The first ip in the series to lose packets was one that I keep seeing crop up time and again; 192.34.76.10 . Now I'm not sure whether this is a server that SE's NA datacenter has anything to do with, or if it might perhaps be a poor neglected local node of lvl3's. Without any real networking expertise and nothing besides the ip to identify the hop, I've got no clue what it is. It does seem a likely origin to at least a bunch of problems, however! Here are a bunch of links to cropped screenshots of command prompt trace routing and pinging fun! (Wish I could have spoil hid a bunch of the images, but I can't figure out how to make spoilers work >.>)

    I have not included any closer than 4th hop as evidence because it would be kind of obnoxious to keep personal stuffs personal that close. Rest assured the trend remains the same of all clear till 192.34.76.10. lvl3's network shows some high latency pings, but I suspect this might be a case of decreased ping priority as a subsequent hop shows all clear.

    Anyway! Hope this helps in getting things sorted, though I suspect there are many more with more experience and greater depth of understanding working on this problem than myself, so I'm unsure just how big a help this would be. Good luck and cheers!

    Not sure if I should post this here but I have had horrendous lag issues, dropped packets and all around bad gameplay. Tried WTFast and it definitely worked, well tonite. Gonna try again tomorrow but it looks promising. I have COMCAST 105mb nearly top tier and this is the only game I have ever had serious issues and by a country mile. I will report back if this works tomorrow. Gonna wait till it gets bad and try to see if it really does make a difference.

    Based on the chart/log after playing WTFast lost 0 packets the regular connection lost 309. That is the problem.

    Absolutely agreed. Having dead silence from SE on this topic, tied to a lack of stuff to do until 3.2 comes out, really has me considering suspending my subscription. I don't want to spend what little time I can every day watching everything stutter and lock up.

    WTFast routes user around the trouble point(s), so it was a great bandaid fix until they removed the free service and require users pay now, which combined with the usual FFXIV monthly charge is more than I want to spend on an MMO.

    This thread, created on 12/04/15 is at the time I write this nearly 2 months old. This thread has nearly 24,000 views.

    The other sticky topic, a welcome thread, created in 2013 has only 16,000 views.

    Based on that observation alone one can deduce there are a lot of people suffering from this problem.

    It's cause they really dont care to fix the issue. Its awesome! I mean you see like 5 people AFK everywhere I go and they dont get DC apparently but Active players do.

    The latency happens everytime servers are full, but my latency seems many X worse than others have reported.. I see pings of 2k-3k receiving. My own local speed test shows pings of 32ms

    So after reviewing the forums, this seems to mainly be a Comcast problem and it starts at 4 pm pst (7 pm est). And there does not seem to be any point in contacting Comcast about this issue as most people have received a "not a problem on our end" reply. I really hope that this gets resolved soon, it really is frustrating when there is a problem that you have no control over.
