Thread: Will our characters still be there in 2.0 if we wait?

I’ve just read about the start of subscriptions (as I can see many others have), I know this had to happen sometime, but I’m not sure if I’m willing to pay subscription yet (still currently debating it in my head).

But if I don’t renew my subscription, will I be able to have my character when the new version comes out, I’d like to see how it turns out and it will hopefully be in a position I’d be more than happy to pay for at that point, problem is will my character still exist?

I imagine they have loads of accounts and characters who haven’t been used in ages and won’t ever be used again. I’m just scared they do a major clean out I guess. Is there a timer or something before characters/accounts are cleared out?

character data will not be altered, there will be no wipes or deletions.

Yea I believe Yoshi said he wouldn't force people to restart if they don't want to. It will be interesting to see how things are all carried over but we don't have to fear a wipe at least.

That’s a relief. Guess I’ll have a look at their notes in the morning and have a think if I want to subscribe for the in between period. Was scared my characters existence would be held ransom if I chose to wait till 2.0.
