    Why is spiritbonding so slow?

Even with the 2 spiritbond gaining rings, spirit bond neck and a spirit bond potion trying to spirit bond crafting gear from heavensward is beyond painfully slow? Is there anything else i can do to make this faster?

Jeez now I know why high end crafting materia is so damn expensive.

Unfortunately they changed how spirit bonding works in the expansion.

All pre expansion gear works the same but all expansion gear can only be spirit bonded based on the gear type, be it crafting/gathering/combat.

So in terms of crafting the only effective way is to find a cheap easily spammed craft and go nuts.

Not only that but I notice heavensward gear whether it be crafting, gathering, or crafting times like 4X as long to spiritbond as pre-expansion gear. Like why the hell? This isn't a fun activity so why make it 4 times as long?
Is gear from the next expansion going to take 8X as long to spiritbond or what? I swear I wonder who the developers make this game for as I cannot imagine any player who wishes it to be this way.

I believe it's also based on the level of the gear (possibly iLvl) vs the level of the activity you're doing. Since the HW stuff is higher level and iLvl, it bonds more slowly unless you're doing nothing but level 60 crafts.

Known factors that increase spiritbonding outside of that include: HQ gear bonds faster than NQ, and gear with materia attached bonds faster than no materia. (So overmeld it with cheap grade 1 piety materia for an easy boost.)

Yes I feel it is slow, so I often end up throwing away old gear that is due for replacing rather than fully bonding and converting it because it takes too much time and crunching through too many materials. They added materia to diadem rewards, but then getting steel spoil tokens from gathering is also too slow I feel. Blowing big gil on the market board for materia is less painful but still painful.

Yep. I do the same. It's very annoying to spend an hour spiritbonding an old piece I would rather not even bother.

I get ~30% sb per expert run on 185 craft iirc, did you already try farming alex 2 normal and such stuff for even fater monster kills?

Some ppl might find this a cheapo way, but I easily get all my craft IIIs and IVs by buying full sets of nq gear from the vendor in Nthan, equipping my i200 weapon and said gear on a range dps class(MCH), meteor rings, choker, and SB potion, then head over to Unghamoro(sic) Mines and owning the mobs in there. You will get more IIIs than IVs but in a 2 hour SB pot duration I can usually score 20-30 materia in 2 hours. Just do not forget to leave the chocobo out of it; being in a party lowers SB rate by 40%, and stay away from fates because of the large health pools. roughly works out that your getting each materia<6k gil

since shes talking about hw craft gear I was under the impression that she wants grade V materia (from binding the new craft stuff), if you are aiming for grade III + IV materia just go urths found as usual and get your ~40 materia per hour

Grade V's aren't in the game yet aside from the transmutation system. Unless I missed something in the 3.1 patch notes.
