If people really feel that a year of game time was not worth their purchase price, they shouldn't still be here. It's a load of crap. The people that are here, and are actually playing, like this game. They can lie all they want. Those that don't play and are just posting whine posts in the forums are nothing more than trolls since they don't play so what should it matter whether or not players are getting charged.

Either way you slice it, put up or shut up.
People being realistic and acknowledging the fact that this game is still behind where any decent AAA MMO would be at launch does not mean they are trolls. People voicing their opinion that it still is not worth paying for does not mean they are trolls.

People defending this game as if it's loaded with unique content and calling everyone who disagrees a troll would be a white knight. You, sir, are white knighting. Nobody says you cannot like the game. Nobody says you cannot pay for the game. If you like it and want to pay, that is fine. You do not need to tear people down who are actually being realistic and voicing their frustrations over SE deciding to charge again when the state of the game is still pretty bad. Leagues ahead of what it was at launch, yes, but that's not saying much.

I'll be glad once they start charging. Then all of the people in this forum who label someone a troll for discussing the negative opinions will see that it's not just "trolls" who quit. It's friends, LS members, that crafter who always bought your items, your supplier in the MW, etc. When people finally are lured out of this false sense of security by fansite polls and notice that the world seems a lot smaller after the charge, maybe then you'll stop and think about how your attitude is not conducive to a good community and you were part of the problem, as you sit in the city unable to find players as fast as usual.

I'm really not sure what your point is. December is doing nothing more than stating that SE has no right to charge for their game and so they are going to convince others not to pay so the game can fail. That's ridiculous.

I've only said it about five thousand times but if anyone is unhappy with the current state of the game, that's their right to feel that way. However, make no mistake, that matters not one bit. SE will start charging for this game and people will pay for it. Why? Because there are plenty of us that feel that this game is now at the point where it is worth paying for. And regardless of anyone's personal feelings on the matter, the initial payment they made to buy the game has been more than repaid in free service for an entire year. Whether or not those people chose to use that service is their own problem.

If people want to acknowledge the current game's short comings, have at it. That's what the forums are for and I have had my share of feedback for the devs on things I don't like. See the recent changes to crafting. BUT, this isn't about feedback on the game. This is about rage over having to pay a sub.

Like I said, either people like the game but can't or won't pay and so they come here and say "OMG this game is so awful, you can't charge for this garbage" OR they do not play the game at all, like the OP, but are going to troll on the forums because they think the game "deserves to fail." It's idiotic.

I'm very sorry if you don't enjoy XIV in its current form. When and if you come back, I hope your opinion changes. In the meantime, Sayonara, cause you won't be here much longer if you don't sub. That's the bottom line.

I am going to pay, why? because every single date on I've been on in the past few months has been flat out retarded along with a horrible short gf and an fwb blow up ending. So I have nothing better to do right now LOL.

But if I did, I would also wait til 2013. This is really stupid. Announce that they will finally do things we want in more motion then restrict the beta buyers from testing.

SE used you, and they used me.
"Now that we finally know the direction FFXIV will take" <------ BECAUSE WE TOLD THEM
"We will begin charging you in about 2 months"
    So in other words.
Thanks for helping us figure out what our job is, we only let you play because we couldn't figure it out for ourselves. And now that we finally understand what the players want, we don't need you anymore. Goodbye. lolz.

And the 2nd reason is because now your going to restrict your word of mouth backing. The people that wouldve played could have pumped up this games name, and lets be honest, thats ALL they have right now. Advertising ff14 2.0 isn't gonna generate the hype this game had before release. If the hype would happen it would come from us this time.

Again, I'm gonna pay, and I enjoy playing. But this was a really retarded idea.

Aren't all MMO developers guilty of this? I mean unless some developer is going to tell their beta testers "Great job guys, as a reward you get to play the game free for life."

You can't really use a volunteer. You signed on to this crew. Whether or not the ship sank is irrelevant. We all know the risk that comes with MMOs. Very few of us can claim in honesty to be first timers here.

This is almost a perfect example of number 2, only you're being honest about it. You like the game. You just don't want to have to pay for it.

I give you a like for honesty.

It's not so much that, my perception on almost everything even relationships I tend to view things as a whole, not just my personal opinion. I've been looking on the forums and listening / watching etc.
I personally have no problems paying for the game, but judging the amount of feedback, and not only feedback, but the idea word of mouth advertising is imperative for this games life, charging now is just a really bad idea. I mean 15$ is nothing, i work full time for xbox (dont laugh lol). I could see summer, or even as early as april to start charging once big overhauls are "Teased" to free players first, then making us pay to play because were craving more being a smarter choice but they didn't go that route. I will back this game to the end despite my waiting for a year to finally enjoy it (cause of xp parties) and dont mind the money to get on, its just I want to see SE make a good decision for a change ON THEIR OWN without their customers input. It has been......awhile

And I would think the general public wants to see them make the same decisions without us having to tell them as well. Once the game gets rolling they will stop listening to us, again, which would be fine, "IF" they could prove to customers they could make good choices on development or in this case billing, without us throwing a temper tantrum about it, you know?

2 examples, when they announced lvl 99 on ffxi they stated for a long time it would only be 1 year. 18 months later it is still at only 95.
I guess another could be the RNG gimp, was "something" needed to be done? sure, was gimping a job people spent millions of gil and enourmous amounts of time on a smart decision? Def not. A smarter decision would have been to start enhancing other classes and slowly bring them up to par with RNG, not destroy something people worked so hard on in the first place , especially without warning.

I hope you're wrong about the bolded part because SE has definitely shown they NEED to listen to their customers. I hope it is a lesson they have learned in this experience, and learned well.
