A gripe every MMO has had, people feeling they do not have a right to be charged for a game they think is incomplete (No mmo ever is out of the box). Granted there a a rather large amount of flaws in the game at the moment, some of which after a year you would have though had been looked at, but there it is. Your choice to pay or not. Good luck on your next game! Me? I dont think paying just for one character is too much since really thats all you need.

maybe it's time for a few class actions and push a standard on mmo's when they launch to some extent. not trying to rally the troops here but every mmo is launching half arse these days and maybe it's about that time we say it needs to change, i mean mmo's are a big profit machine these days. i don't think a full blown game like cod can launch looking like a 15dollar game launched on playstation store as a mini right? maybe it's time to draw a line on what mmo companies can get away with. it's not like it's the little man making them in there basements, it's billion dollar companies. it ain't wrong for people to EXPECT MORE when they pay, not less. tyvm

There are so many topics like this I wasn't sure which one to post in lol ..here's my two cents nonetheless.

I've seen this all before back when I preordered Aion Collector's Edition. When the game released, it was in a playable and reasonable state. Then they showed this Aion 2.0 "Vision Trailer".

This "2.0" stuff is not something I've seen happen until recent MMOs. While it is nice to show your community what they'll eventually be seeing, the people who already saw problems within the game were saying/thinking: "Yea right..that's all well and fine- but they gotta fix (insert problem(s) here) first!". Then you had loyalist(nothing wrong with a loyal attitude) saying "Sure there are problems now, but look at what it can be!" ..Neither side was willing to understand the other. Regardless of the games state at launch, people will be unhappy.

I waited a little over a year after that "Vision Trailer" was debuted and I didn't see a single positive/relative change that showed me they were in fact heading in that direction. I quit Aion as a result of this. They never seemed to implement simple things...yet they were trying to add whole new PvP zones and other big things. During all this time I was being charged.

Now fast-forward to XIV. It releases in a fairly poor state - they give everyone a free year to play - they show 2.0 or Vision Concept Art a whole year later - then say it will take another year to see it to fruition. Also, you will now be charged. Its a repeat with and opposite beginning. So for me, its more being jaded than SE being fail.

I will stay- After all, when I bought the game I didn't expect the free year..I was gonna pay anyway. I want to see this "Vision", I think its nice to see where my investment is headed.

But in my book, it still stands to question: Why do companies continue to make players wait looooong periods of time for basic things in MMOs, regardless of whether they charge or not? MMOs of old released flawed because technology wasn't fleshed out. But now, It seems like companies are abusing the MMO model..its like they're releasing things intentionally and inherently flawed, just so they can rake in money and "fix it in the coming years." Games today are all about paid beta testing lol

In this games case, what's done is done, why complain? But 2 years is a lot of time to ask players to wait to see a vision when some things are fairly marred from the start. Get the basics right, then people will be more enthusiastic about this "Vision". However, I have to keep myself positive in the meantime.

Tl;dr ~ This sort of thing happens often with modern games, try to be understanding of both sides of the fanbase, try to keep a positive outlook though difficult that may be, but don't be so hopeful you don't see where you're being screwed.

P.S. Aion is pay to play and the haters never left the forums, in fact they're the ones who posted most often even up til now. This payment model does not weed out trolls.

paying for a game that they come out and tell you is being completely rebuilt in future patches. its like they're admitting that they are robbing you.
and enough with the "you wont be missed can i has your stuff herpa derp" crap. this game is bad. deal with it.
