    Struggling to pick a job..

I've been playing paladin since ive started playing the game and I'm at the point now where I feel like I'm not doing a very good job as a tank. SO I've been thinking of switching to a dps class, but I'm having trouble trying to pick which one. What I'm kinda looking for is what is really useful in raids/other hard group content. I kinda wanna have a bit of utility other than just straight up pew pew damage.

Play either BRD or MCH. They're DPS, but more support which is very useful for any content. I'd say BRD might be the easier of the two all things considered. Also, BRD's playstyle drastically changes once they get W. Minuet in the 50s, so be prepared to adjust.

If big numbers are your thing, DRG or BLM. DRG probably has the most utility to bring. It's also the flavor of the month job as there are ALOT of DRGs.

BRD\MCN are your obvious support, BRD inching a little more with Foe's Requium. Both giving TP and MP regen,

NIN offers a slashing debuff, agro management, TP regen on other player, 10 % party DPS boost.

DRG offers piercing debuff and a 15% crit buff to party. Note that most love DRG now for this DPS increase.

MNK offers blunt and -10% INT debuff, 20% heal buff to party(kinda small range). MNK's -10% INT though is replaced by a DRK though so their usefullness is kinda low, mainly bring their DPS at this point.

SMN is the only DPS that can raise in combat. Can also use Eye for an Eye and Virus.

BLM can give a 30% magical resistance buff to one player. Thats about it, they blow stuff up.

If i missed anything im sure someone will help me out lol. Choose your poison!

Going from tank I would have to recommend a melee job as these are at closest to what you're currently used to. I think playing from a melee perspective helps you understand what a good tank is, and when/if you ever go back to tanking that experience as a melee will help you be a better tank. Playing as a ranged is a lot different than playing as a melee/tank. Being able to move while you execute attacks is one of the biggest conveniences on the melee classes, getting out of that habit is kinda tough, but not impossible if you're looking for a total change of pace.

NIN is probably the best support melee if you are looking for more utility, followed by DRG. Both DRG and MNK are very competitive in damage, NIN is a little behind in that regard but offers more raid utility than either MNK or DRG as Morzy's overview explains.

If you plan to switch I would suggest DRG that way you can find all those "DRG Tank" jokes funny in some way.
They are really starting to get old...

@ OP - What area of tanking are you struggling at? Knowing that would help in choosing a better fit for you.

u said u wanna play a DD with support aspect... but what about a supporter with dps aspect? you should take a look at the SCH cls although its a healer... they are lovely taken by any raid/endcontent cause of their ability to spread dps and buffs/debuffs for good. faery heals while you can focus on buffs (eye for an eye, protes, stoneskin, shieldheals) debuffs (virus, shadowflare, dots with statuseffects) AND dps...

...else all DD support skills where mention above... i havent played a melee dd yet (just smn and blm) but in my point of view NIN looks good for your likings

    so long

Yes, please answer this, I'll be honest with you, everyone say DPS is the job with no responsibility but it's is not easy in the least to be great at dpsing. I'm doing a little over 1220 on a dummy on my I203 nin and i'm almost completely discouraged from playing it now because of that.

Very much so. Definitely recommend taking it to 60.
