Status of the Summoner: Pick your Egi UI setup? :)

A while back Yoshi-P talked about how that they are working on a system to allow Summoners to pick their Egi, from all the new summons out there (or at least several of the summons out there) and that they were working on a UI for this. And that the different summons would act much like the current three do at this time, but would just have a different skin.

Didn't know if the community team had any update on this feature, if we would see it in 3.2 or later. (no worries, I am just excited about getting it).

Also, if it would be possible to update the summon icons to reflect the egi that is being summoned, that would be great. I'd love to be able to bring out Carby, or Shiva to the battle, depending on how I'm feeling.

It'd be nice if we had some updates on its progress (even some concept art on other Egi designs would do).

I believe (could be wrong on the interview dates) it was talked at around E3, as the question came up that SMN didn't get any new Summons on their way to 60. Then he talked about them making a UI for it and they would be like "glamours" for your summons. Which sounds fine to me, but just curious on it's progress.

Your right, if they haven't started on it then, that would be a bummer. Guessing that there hasn't been any updates that I have missed. Will have to wait and be patient... Hoping for 3.2

I thought this was covered by the level 50 or 52 SMN quest NPC, who pretty much said 'It's not gonna happen in the 3.X lifetime'

Or, Egi Skins could end up in the cash shop, but I really don't see it ever happening without an actual quest

the summoner glamor was originally designed for 2.15 then 2.2...then 2.25 then 2.3 then 2.4 then 2.55 then 3.0

looking forward to the 3.2 hope and cannot wait for it's actually release on patch 14.5 :P

Oh man, that would be awesome!!! Bahamut for the win. Could be fun trying to collect them as well. Don't know what the requirements would be, but hopefully they aren't all just there.

For those who are clearly unaware, back during the 2.x cycle Yoshi mentioned we'd be getting Leviathan and Shiva egis. When the 3.0 job changes and new skills were revealed he explained that they decided NOT to give us the new pets but instead would work on a pet glamour system that would let us change our current pets to look like the other egi as well as bring back the carbuncles. Since then we've heard nothing on it.

Honestly I'm not sure if they really have any intention of actually adding the system. The timing of the pet glamour announcement was clearly just to curb any complaints over SMNs having all of their future pets scrapped. Given that they announced it over six months ago the silence is a little worrying.

New egis were already finished:

--I enjoy playing summoner as my main job, but when it comes to end game content, it's all Garuda-Egi with no opportunity to use Ifrit or Titan. That's pretty disappointing, and I'd like for Ifrit and Titan avatars to also play active roles in party content.
Y: Earlier I talked about Black Mage from my own point of view, but I've also seen that Garuda was always used on summoner. Originally we intended for each avatar to play a different role depending on the content and party setup. Since Garuda has the highest DPS, Garuda is used in the most content, so I think that's the main issue. If we made the other avatars stronger, then Summoner would be stronger overall, and if we made Garuda weaker to compensate for powering up the others, then the reverse could be true, so we are carefully considering what to do. It's a cute summon, but in the future you'll be able to summon a certain old man and a sister clothed in ice who's also quite cute. Although actually I wish I could copy the Mammet with the Mirage Prism.
--Are those summons coming next, or will Leviathan?
Y: Leviathan, hmm... I'm not sure whether Ramuh or Leviathan will come first (laughs). I think it'll happen when the level cap is raised, so I really can't say yet.

That was last year before we got to level 60 and when they did not change their plans...
I wonder if they have some issues with budget... it seems they try to decrease development cost...

To be fair, that model may or may not have been originally intended to be used for Ramuh's Grey Arbiters
(then again, Titan's Granite Gaolers also look similar to Titan-Egi).

Still, the model IS there for them to re-purpose at anytime; it's just that they'd have to make a lot of alterations/additions to it (movement, animations, visual-effects...Enkindle skill).
