Free login campaign for the whole of December! Yay!

Kind of a troll move to advertise it as lasting a month but then only actually giving out four days.

I don't know what any inactive player hopes to accomplish in four days, aside from maybe stopping their houses from blowing up.

If you had stopped playing during the lull of content with 3.0, you could come back on, do the Void Ark, new dungeons, MSQ and Lords of Verminion challenges. Pretty much everything 3.1 has to offer, other than the Diadem (which is garbage anyhow if you're not interested in gear) and Thordan. You could do Thordan too I suppose, if you knew people who still play. Besides, that's the entire point. They're not meant to get into gear progression, it's meant to entice them into subscribing.

The reason is if you guys did stop constantly crying about housing, this player would for sure have forgotten he owned a house let alone that he was about to loose it.

I'm sure they would have missed the 2-3 emails they send about it, along with the email(s) about the campaign.

How it a troll move unless a person can't read. The window lasts the whole month but a person can choose when during that month to start their 4 days.

Unfortunately due to the stupidly high item level requirements on pretty much everything that 3.1 released, gear progression is indeed a necessary thing if they want people to actually try out the 3.1 content, unless the people coming back really are where you say they are and left off with basically all 3.0 content and at least a full set of i180 law gear under their belt.

It's like your boss telling you you can take a vacation during the entire month of December! But then saying in a smaller voice "oh, but you only actually get one week; sorry, you know how it is..."

Tbh, if one of those guys who did quit the game is reading this thread and log back in during those free days, i hope he does it just to reset his house timer.

Are you really implying that "if we stop crying, things will be better"? Don't you think that without complains, SE will think that everything's fine?

These complains are valid and the "free login campain" completly crushes the hopes of the active playerbase to see these unused slots becoming available again, because SE will spam these ex-players saying "Hey! The house you have in FFXIV is going to be demolished! Quick connect yourself and visit it to prevent that from happening!", followed by another email saying "BTW, we have a free login campaign for december... how conveniant, right?!".
So, guess what these ex-players will do. Yes, they're going to think "Oh yeah, that's right, I had a house! Better use that free login stuff to keep it in case I want to come back... (but I won't, lolz)."

Seems that quite a bunch of people in this thread are completly missing the point. You included.
Nobody's saying that returning players are a bad thing... as long as they resub and play the game like everyone here. What people are complaining about is the possibility of someone using the free login campaign just to prevent their house from being destroyed, while not planning to resub and play the game again. And, unfortunatly, there'll be a lot of ex-players doing just that.

I don't believe the requirements are stupidly high, with Alexander uncapped it's incredibly easy to get to a decent iLVL. Any lower and the content would be even cheesier, or those players would be undergeared and a hindrance to the team. Regardless, that's the case of a friend of mine with a bit of Esoteric/Alexander mixed in. Felt 3.0 was a disappointment and lacked content, unsubscribed after a bit, and will utilize this to get the story content of 3.1.

Don't worry with all the shitstorm housing brought with it, SE has for sure heard of the situation by now. And this is my point.

Complaining wont make new wards coming any faster. All you gotta do is suck it up for the time being and be patient. SE is aware of it and im sure is working on it.
For now the alternative is to find a friend and ask him if hes willing to share the house or wait.


Don't get me wrong id be more than happy to see everyone being able to own a house. But the situation being what it is, its impossible.

I understand the whole ddisappointment you guys feel. When housing originally came out, i was unable to get one. No big deal, so i waited and guess what they added subdivisions and i got mine within the first hour of release.

Anyway ill say it again, be patient im sure they will add new wards at some point. Hell it could even be in Ishgard for all we know.
Keeping the complaints going will, at this point, do nothing but getting you even more frustrated about it.


About the players doing this only to prevent to have their house destroyed without planning to resub, its not what i meant.
I was actually talking about a player coming back full time into the game after those days.
But yh its an issue the solution could be to be that the players should be unable to reset the timer if no sub is active. This means even if they access their houses during those free days they cant do anything about the timer.

Well...I have to say, it only makes sense that SE would advertise the campaign around this time, and I'm always happy to see new faces in the game. My FC and I have been saving up and waiting for a plot to become avaialble, so there is a chance that this could hinder those plans but, realistically, I don't think they will.

Someone who has been unsubscribed for 8-9 months likely won't be picking the game up again any time soon, even if a free login pass is given. Those are players who have either lost all interest in the game itself and won't ever return or players who, as I've done in the past, took an extended break but resubscribed once there were several patches' worth of new content readily available. Either way it goes, I don't think the free login will have a huge impact on housing.

Were these emails sent to people who owned houses only? I didn't receive any emails regarding this. (I was unsubbed for past 2 months until 2 days ago)

The emails for events are usually a 1-3 weeks late, so expect them around them (as is the case with pretty much every email they send out, I got the 3.1 email long after I finished with the content) but they do send out emails for almost everything. I even got an email telling me about the new mounts on the Mogstation. If you mean the housing emails, they get sent when the house is about to be demolished, then again when it's closer, and possibly a third time when there's a day left or whatever.

I do remember getting an email for the last free login campaign (around the time of the Gold Saucer), but I could be wrong.
