Recolor fit perfectly as "optional cash item". More than a complete new mount.

This. New models (mounts, hairstyles, glamour) have been, to date, almost always added as obtainable in-game items. Most of the things that end up in the cash shop are existing armor sets/models (Scions, event items) and now recolored mounts (Odin's mount being an exception, of course). Because of this, although the prices are a tad high, I find it a bit annoying that people are complaining about selling recolors.

They are going to use the cash shop whether we like it or not (I personally don't mind since they haven't put anything P2W in it). So, would you rather unique looking mounts/gear be added there instead of recolors or existing in-game models? Because so far SE been adding new stuff to be obtainable in-game.

Now I really know why there's so much lack of content in this game. Any one got the scoop yet as to when the game is going to go free-to-play.

They keep making easy cash grabs like this, yet continue to cite things like "lack of resources" or "server limitations" as answers to our complaints.

I don't mind a cash shop with vanity items... but it's annoying to see overpriced, zero-effort stuff like this when they won't give us more inventory space, proper instanced systems for housing, or find fixes to any of the other big problems (that other MMOs don't seem to have trouble overcoming).

This is going to make me sound like what some people like to call a "white knight," but whatever, I don't give a damn. Why do people spew this bs like every game is created equal? Like every budget is the same? Like every game engine has the same capabilities and the same limitations? Like every team is equally capable of the same feats?

Just. effing. stop.

"B-b-but this other MMO did so why can't you, SE?" because this isn't that other MMO. This is FFXIV. Why doesn't every MMO release quarterly content patches? Why doesn't every MMO allow you to be every class with one character? Why isn't every MMO designed to work on consoles? Because every game and the people working on them are different.

It sucks that we don't have more inventory space. It sucks that housing is so jacked up. It sucks that there's a host of other problems. It really does, but it sucks even more when Square Enix (specifically Yoshi-P and the rest of the staff), who have generally been very open and honest about such things continue to be open and honest, but people just cover their ears and scream "omg you guys are so lazy and greedy. Blizzard wouldn't have this problem!" And you're right. They would have other problems that people would complain about some other game solving. And that other game would have it's own share of issues and limitations that some other game probably doesn't have and so on and so on.

It also completely ignores the fact that The 18th Floor is one department in a very large corporation, and all their revenues get funneled up to Square Enix, who then remits the money back to them in the form of a yearly budget each March. Yoshi P has probably sat down with the budget committee and gone "hey guys we REALLY NEED MORE MONEY" and the SE team will grudgingly increase their budget by 10% or whatever next year because the game has done reasonably well.

We have pretty much nothing to do in the game and they keep adding stuff to the cash shop instead of making more rewards that would give you a reason to run old content.

These could have been mounts for Bismark and Ravana, white for Bis and red for Ravana.

If it wasn't for the friends i made in this game i would probably quit right now.

You get already a mount for doing both Castrum Meridian first time.

These could have been mounts for Bismark and Ravana, white for Bis and red for Ravana.

Would have completely failed the theme.
Better will be to save them up for the expansion with Ala Migho.

At the end of the day, the game is the companies. You do not know what does or does not go on with the cash shop sales, and people certainly cannot say what the best option is for them to do. If you don't like how they are running the game, quit. I really love the game but, at the end of the day ask yourself, do I? Or are they making choices I don't agree with? If they are, make a choice because they added the cash shop and its staying as far as I can tell.

So many people crying over cash shop and saying these should have been made drops from old content to encourage people going through old content to help newer people - this is dishonest and makes it appear like people actually care about the newer people trying to get through old content.

If they HAD been added to old content as a drop, those same people would be the first to complain about RNG and decry that SE should have made it a token system, so they only had to run the old content 5 times in order to get their new mounts. Screw the newbies right? As long as I get my new mount quickly, for free, and with little effort and no RNG.

It's just greed on part of the player base. You can't have everything for nothing. A subscription does not entitle you to whatever you want at no additional cost. SE are offering these products as optional extras. This is a big part of the real world and how it functions. You get to have those optional extras if you want to pay for them.
