Openly gay characters in ff14

The quest dialogue could actually be read both ways (at least the english version).

Either because they were different from the rest of the tribe (as in gay), or different from each other (different races). Maybe someone with knowledge about the japanese original could clarify how it is in JP?

Another thing is, that he's actually a Keeper of the Moon, but it still might have been a similar reason why he was thrown out (e.g. not wanting to satisfy the matriarch, etc.)

Keepers aren't a distaff mirror version of Seekers; if Keepers are lions, Seekers are tigers, a traditional keeper adult male is itinerant and visits multiple females on a temporary basis for mating, he isn't attached to any particular one. Presumably if he isn't up for it some other male would quickly displace him and the females would barely notice. (This is assuming he's a traditionally-minded boy to begin with, which seems doubtful given he was settled in a village and not roaming the forest as Menphina intended.)

Also I thought it was pretty clear in the EN that they had to leave their village for being an interracial couple? There's a lot of queer players in my FC and they were all really happy the story avoided the gayngst trope.
