Am I missing something or are we unable to post in the new "Future of FFXIV" subforum? No worries, I got the meme reference; no offense taken. As for a response, I don't have a response for you since I'm not on the dev. team! What I can do is assist you all in finding the correct places to ask your questions to make sure they're collected properly. Sorry, if I don't have an answer to every topic at hand, gang.
I also didn't foresee this turning into any kind of issue, so maybe I should've just kept my big Morbol-sized gaping maw shut!
Thanks Bayohne. Don't know how I missed that. ~_~This would be a great question for the sticky thread we set up to collect questions!
A mod can close this thread if needed, thanks!
Considering there are multiple topics on this I'll say what I did in the previous thread.
The reasoning behind the all dungeons becoming instanced content hinges on one fact. "Cross server play" you can't do open world content with such a system.
I prefer open world content and I hope that it doesn't take a backseat to instanced content...I'm personally worried that I wont be able to do anything without entering a instance in FFXIV V2.0
@ Irondude, Oh, an edit! It's not a problem. I was thoroughly confused by your response, hence the vehemence in my reply.
On topic, as I said in the other thread, I support open-world content over instanced, like Jynx. I understand the dungeon finder thing, but I think a bit of life goes out of the world when everything is gated off by teleporting to it. Look at Free Realms as an extreme example.
And now I've posted entirely way too much in this topic, so I'll be quiet.

I understand the above, but I have concerns.
I assume this refers to things like Casseopia Hollow or the nanawa mines. Personally I rather liked how you could seamlessly walk into these areas from the surface. I'd rather just see new areas be added rather than these replaced.
I would assume with the redesign these areas will either become their own completely unique zones (no copy/paste, no long loading corridor) or they will remain the way they are and be treated like generic caves. If they become their own unique zones, I'd much rather there be a zoneline. In fact, I have been wanting zone lines ever since people figured out the long corridors we walk through are artificial zone lines anyways. I'd rather a unique world + real zone lines than a copy/paste world + artificial zone lines covered with copy/paste textures.I understand the above, but I have concerns.

Sorry, no. There should be no zonelines, anywhere except for instances. A seamless transition is much better than a fade to black and suddenly you're in a completely different place. It makes it too easy for level designers to create impossible spaces (Places that couldn't exist if they were real because their bounds intersect).I'd much rather there be a zoneline.
This doesn't mean you need "long loading corridors." WoW doesn't have these. You can walk from one zone to the next and there isn't even any corridor at all. Other zones are loaded in advance as you approach them. Other games like Oblivion do the same thing. The world is broken down into giant tiles and at any given time, only the one you're in and each of the ones surrounding it are loaded at any given time. when you move to a new tile, no-longer-adjacent tiles unload and new ones load.
No "copy pasta" action is required, either. You don't get copy pasta action because of seamless transitions. They have nothing to do with eachtoher. This happened in FFXIV because they were forced to reuse assets heavily to fill a large space in a short time constraint.
Loading screens stink, and there's nothing more to it than that. If they can be abolished in an elegant way in as many places as possible, they should be.
