Worry not child! I think all servers are somewhat 'dead' at the moment. 3.1 didn't exactly reignite interest very long for most people and they seem all to be taking a break until 3.2 (Sick patch, SE!). Merging servers would probably cause more issues then it's worth when people flock back for a tier update.

I blame Fallout 4. We lost at least 4-5 FC members to it. Last time I checked, one had just discovered she could build a fortress on an island or something.

But from your explanation, all I heard is those you "like" to play with aren't doing anything/what you want anymore. By no means does that mean the server is dying. You used to have a niche group and now it's gone. YOUR niche is gone. Not everyone's. I think it's time you put yourself out there again and reach out to those you normally wouldn't. If you're looking for the big server mentality, then this is no longer the server for you. Goblin isn't the "PF galor" server.

^This. I love goblin. I don't want it to be Balmung. My FC has 6 that came from Balmung and transferred here. There's ups and downs to both. If your play style has changed to the mindset of needing hundreds of randoms to go around with, then that's fine. But saying Goblin is dead because your niche is gone isn't true. And announcing our server is "dead" on forums is not going to get anyone to want to join goblin. People will purposefully choose a lower population server if they dislike zerg masses running around (like me). People will NOT join a server when people say "___ server is dead". Why? Because no one (I repeat, NO ONE) wants to join a "dead" server.

I've been having this same DF issue for the last week on Balmung. Only leveling roulette though everything else works fine, as does queuing for any dungeon I want normally.

Pretty sure Goblin has more people than Lich but I wouldn't call my server "dead" by a long shot.
I have an alt on Balmung, I'm rather glad my main isn't on such a crowded server.... barely any room to breathe, you know what I mean?

I don't know, his biggest complaint is that his queues take forever. They take forever because not alot of people are queuing for the Roulette he's doing, Leveling. Now, this is very likely not because there's a lack of players, but rather a lack of the right players. Alot of people start with a DD because it's not as intensive as a tank or healer. The best way Duty has to fill that is with high levels moonlighting for the Roulette reward. But that reward has been lackluster for months giving high levels very little reason to queue, thus robbing Duty of people to fill in vacant roles and extending queue times to ridiculous lengths. The answer isn't to make the server a lucrative transfer, that would still leave him with longer queues as he'd still have the problem of lackluster rewards. The rewards from Roulette need be updated to reflect the current demand, even if only to offer 10 or so Esoterics like Trials.

    About roulette queue:

I wanted to share an update regarding the issue wherein the queue time for Duty Roulette: Expert tends to be very long during peak hours. This led us to investigate the type of content players are queueing for and the roles they’ve selected when queueing.

Our investigation has shown the reason that the queue times have increased during peak hours is because of two measures that were implemented in Patch 3.1.

Since a large variety of content that utilizes the instance servers was implemented in Patch 3.1, the server load placed on the server when characters are transferred to an instance has spiked. Therefore, to prevent cases where the instance or World areas could crash, we have placed a limit on the number of character transfers that take place per minute. However, as time has passed since the release of Patch 3.1 and we have confirmed that the servers remain quite stable, we will remove this restriction today. It will not require a hotfix or maintenance to remove this restriction.

We will continue to monitor the server load over the weekend, and if no problems arise, we will not reinstate these restrictions.

Another measure that was implemented in Patch 3.1 would prioritize the queue for players who are queueing for new content specifically over queueing via the Duty Roulette.

We have taken a look at the data and confirmed that more players are queueing for Duty Roulette: Expert over simply selecting Saint Mocianne's Arboretum and Pharos Sirius (Hard) so we will adjust the algorithm during the hotfix planned for Tuesday of next week. After the adjustment, whether the player queues for specific content or the Duty Roulette, they will be handled equally.

Once these changes take place, the issue wherein queue time are longer during peak hours should be addressed. With that said, we will continue to monitor server data and make adjustments as needed.

Zalera is even quieter than Goblin is but I don't mind it. The community is really tight and easy to integrate into, pretty much everyone is up for helping others out in some way. There's a a lot of hunters too despite the server size and when hunts aren't being called in the linkshells, it's full of socializing. On that note about hunts, joining together with a late night crew to 8 man an S rank is really fun and challenging. But yeah, Zalera might be a casual and small server, but I'm content with playing there.
