The quest im talking about is "The heretic among us"

And its not about me, its about the AI, it gets killed over and over, regardless of what i do, they die extremely easily, even if you breathe on them they die, seriously, that dragon keeps on casting some uninterruptable spell that deals 600-700 damage to the AI and it always targets the AI so they die very fast, i let the AI take aggro? They get hit for more damage than i take and they die just as fast as if i had aggro.

I was actually told what my rotation is supposed to be by a random dude in a dungeon.

I am beyond frustrated at the moment, my class doesnt have any CC that interrupts spell casts and the ones that i have are all fully resisted and im not going to sit there and take 200+ damage per hit from the big dragon while having zero protection, my class is supposed to run away or kite that stuff, not sit there and take it.

I didnt have any problems at all with any of the previous quests.

ah that lovely one. It's definitely more of a tank fight. Completely ignore the main boss once the adds spawn. There's pretty much no way to save all the NPC's. You only have to focus on the main staying alive. The main can handle the boss by himself long enough for you to deal with the adds. But he won't last long if the adds are also attacking him. Small damage adds up real quick when there's a whole bunch attacking.

This is difficult to deal with because you have to hold multiple adds and you aren't a tank. Burn them as quickly as possible with your rotation would be my first guess at it (perhaps a more experienced magic user can chime in with better advice?). When the wvyern's show, kill as quickly as possible though. 2 are hard to deal with for a magic user. The biggest issue overall is the fact that YOU have to hold the mobs off the NPC and let him take the big dmg dealers from the main boss. He can handle the large damage attacks, he just can't deal with the large number count from mobs hitting him. NPC's are weird...

Don't forget blm can sleep mobs. Might help with some of the solo instances. I remember this quest being a pain when I went through it on whm, just have to kill the adds asap. Be sure to have physick and/or some HP potions to keep your own health up. Probably wouldn't hurt to spam some physick on the knight to keep him up if he gets low too.

During the second phase, the boss just keeps running at me for god knows what reason while casting that shit on the AI every 5-10 seconds or so, so i cant stop to kill the adds or i die, but if i continue to run the AI dies because they cant get out of stuff to save their lives.

And i cant keep the adds asleep cause the AI keeps breaking them out of it.

Ive played my fair share of difficult games before(like Pokemon Reborn) but everything felt like something that i can deal with using strategy and none of them had stuff where u had to protect an incompetent AI ally, but this one just feels outright impossible.

By the way, where do i put all my bonus attributes? On Intelligence? Whats the most optimal for BLM?

It becomes nearly useless once you get to level 50 and are wearing gear that's specifically for damage dealer casters, because that gear won't have Mind on it. For the pre-50 leveling content, though, most of the gear is general DoM gear used by both damage dealer and healer DoM, so it has both INT and MND. As long as that's the case, a THM/BLM can still do a useful amount of healing. That's long enough for it to be worth unlocking, especially since you only need Arcanist up to like level 4 or something, so it's really quick and easy to unlock.

Yes, put them all in Intelligence.

    Intelligence for sure

Also, it wouldn't hurt to get some gear upgrades. The best bet is asking your FC, if you have one. If not, I suppose it would be kinda rude to join one then ask for a bunch a gear, but really any gear lv50 or less is easy to make and cheap too, so it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Gear? Most of the stuff i have is green or pink with the exception of the rings and stuff, i have battlemages robe, gloves and boots, a pink iLvl 36 wand, a iLvl 40 white head armor piece and a pink shield.

I can equip gear with higher item level but the stats arent really better, unless i go and ask in a town or something and pay someone to make me some gear.

Yea the hq gear would be a bit better, even if it's only a couple points per piece there are 10-11 pieces so the upgrades will add up. I wouldn't recommend buying hq stuff off the mb, it tends to be overpriced. If you can find a crafter in town they'd prolly make them much cheaper. I mention the FC mainly because I've made a lot of gear for new people and will even buy materia and meld it for them, all for free. I know quite a few other people that will do the same, I'd venture to guess there's friendly people like this on your server as well

Edit: Just kinda funny, you may have done this already but I just searched youtube and the first video that popped up was a black mage that struggled through this quest even at lv42. Here ya go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXZpLO7e6R4

Yeah i did it, i beat that motherf- err, i shouldnt utter such words here, but instead of running i sat and took the damage(i basically took everything the big dragon threw at me and dodged his stuff) and the AI never broke my CC this time(i CCd all the other adds with SLEEP) so it worked out, im still level 40.

Btw what do you mean by HQ stuff?

Every craftable gear item has the low quality and high quality version. (Crafters have to use their crafting skills to make/break items, but also to create items of higher quality). The HQ stuff gives you more stat points and defense... and when I say more I mean a lot more.
