Whm mp regen/aggro control is call shroud of saintsDouble edit: Now that I thought about it more, I don't recall ever seeing much MP management to be needed at all. I won't include Blm as they have infinite MP unless they really mess up, Ast and Sch both have MP recovery with Luminous Aether and Aetherflow. The only healer I've ever seen risk running out of MP is whm when they get a little overzealous with that holy spam or they have a group that's eating way too much aoe. I don't know if whm has an MP recovery move though, it's the only healer I haven't leveled to 60.
I approve just so I can watch every healer very slowly cast raise/ascend/resurrection lmao (sarcasm) this would be awful for healers and most dps that rely on those buffs for dps numbers I.e raging strikes, BFB, internal release and whatever else so they would have to change a lot with skills to make this work and even some content...
But some skills are must have for other classes. Skills like Cleric Stance, Provoke, Blood for Blood, Swiftcast. Without those skills, we are all going to lose alot of dps and utility. Have you leveled a AST (non DF) without Cleric Stance? Its helll, like Resto Druid way back in Vanila WoW.
and if you had read my opening post you might have seen i made note of that by both by keeping cross class skills for levels 1-60 as to keep that problem from happening while replacing cross class skills one skillslot at a time and also as ive said cleric stance in itself isnt needed a variant of it perhaps but not the skill itself and if settling for one or 2 skills that function similar to what skills jobs currently have means we also get 3 or 4 more that replace cross class skills that arent very useful but we take them to fill that slot then i dont see it as a bad thing at all.But some skills are must have for other classes. Why not instead roll certain abilities in with others, Heavy thrust, windbite/poison arrow, or hell really anything that gives a beneficiary buff rolling into a combo starter or another ability.
Does feel like many classes have too many skills. I thought 2.0 had a good amount, 3.0 just has way too many buttons that need to be pressed.
As a MCH, I already don't have a self heal, barely a defensive buff, or offensive one for that matter. Please don't take what little I have away from me unless you'll offer something better.
cross class skills right now are pretty garbage. There's a pretty big lack of any actual 'customization' - there's very few skill variances.
All dragoons will have:
Second Wind
Internal Release
Mercy Stroke
All monks will have:
Blood for Blood
Mercy Stroke
Invigorate
All Ninjas will have:
Second Wind
Invigorate
Blood for Blood
Internal Release
There basically is no 'choice' on these skills. These are the skills you need to be an effective DPS. Other things - such as Keen flurry / Foresight / Mantra / Featherfoot are optional for the last spots and offer.... questionable customization. Keen flurry's probably the most useful since a parry of a physical attack will give you 20% reduction garunteed, compared to raising DEF which doesn't feel like doing anything and you'll never dodge an attack (featherfoot) in meaningful content (raids.)
...So he's right. There's really no point to crossclasses in their current iteration. I kinda wish there was a better variety. Choosing between a CRIT bonus skill and a DAMAGE BONUS skill would be awesome. Choosing between Magic Mitigation and Physical Mitigation for a fight would be awesome. Choosing between a Instant Self-heal or a self-heal over time would be awesome. Heck, choosing a type of party utility to bring - a +CRIT bonus, a +Damage bonus, or a +MP/TP regeneration skill for the party would be awesome too.
The crossclass system had a lot of potential. But you wind up pigeonholed in just about every job. There's really no choice most the time.
I've never crossed Mercy Stroke as a Dragoon or Lancer for even a single second. My DRG Cross Skills are, Second Wind, Internal Release, Fracture, Foresight, and Bloodbath. Mercy Stroke is to situational and far less effective than anything else in our arsenal. Though if we had a Sixth Slot I'd consider crossing Mantra for when no MNK was present.
