While I am pro-parser, the people it doesn't help that people in the pro-parser crowd have no idea what the parser is supposed to be used for. Parsers have 2 uses: 1. Compare two pieces of gear, 2. Leaderboards. There is no other use. Let's take this hypothetical situation between a group in AS3 with a dragoon named Foo and his dragoon teammate names Bar:
->
Party wipe to equal concentration
->
Foo: Bar you were 1000 DPS.
Bar: Okay.
Foo: I was 1010. You need to do better.
Bar: Okay. What does the parser say I need to do?
Foo: "Stop rolling your face on the keyboard."
Bar: Okay.
->
Party wipes again to equal concentration
->
Bar: How did I do?
Foo: 1621. The hell did you do different?
Bar: I turned off netflix.
Foo: Why was it on in the first place? You knew you could do better before we started.
Bar: Well we still wiped. How did you do?
Foo: 1007. What the heck this can't be right. I did the same moves as last time.
Bar: What does the parser say to do?
Foo: "Play a tank or something". Wait, what?
Bar: Well the parser is always right, my number went up.
Foo: Okay...
->
Foo switches to Paladin and the groups goes again.
->
Party wipe to equal concentration.
->
Bar: Well?
Foo: You did 1602.
Bar: We still wiped.
Foo: Because you went down 19 dps.
Bar: What does the parser say to do?
Foo: It says... woah this one is long. I'll quote it, "Permute the order of using blood for blood in the burst. Follow heavy thrust with Impulse drive combo and use B4B and BoTD before Chaos thrust. Use Phlebotemize after wheeling thrust.".
Bar: But What if I get fang and claw?
Foo: Are you arguing with the parser? It says you'll get wheeling thrust.
Bar: Okay... How did you do?
Foo: 270 DPS... WHAT?
Bar: What does it say to do?
Foo: "Hold control and press Q twice".
Bar: Is that like a cheat code?
Foo: Not sure, but let's go.
->Party pulls
->Foo mysteriously disconnects during equal concentration.
->FIN
I don't think the parser worked the way they thought. And they still didn't pass the DPS check.
