People like your friend are the main target of this reclaim system. Also I'm assuming it a personal house cause FC leadership would of been transferred to another person long time ago. Personal houses only the owner can stop the timer.

While they might be the main target, who knows why this guy was gone. Could be in service to his country or something. Kind of a crappy deal for people who have legitimate reasons to be away, and all that's going to happen is that all the houses are going to be full up by active players, not much different than it is now except with a tiny caveat.
I guess it's too late for this to be reconsidered, but I sorely hope they intend to address the lack of housing in an actual way instead of generating only much misery and false hopes.
Yeah, OP didn't state why the guy was away or anything so I dunno. If he was deployed or something I could totally see being unsubbed for a year and wanting to have your house to come back to. I'll admit that feel a little differently about voluntarily cancelling your sub and still wanting to keep hold of a limited resource like that while you aren't actively playing, though. While they might be the main target, who knows why this guy was gone. Nah, it already went in and is a thing. It's been stated by the devs that this is just the first step in dealing with housing.I guess it's too late for this to be reconsidered, but I sorely hope they intend to address the lack of housing in an actual way instead of generating only much misery and false hopes.
Speaking of the transferring of leadership.
Can you imagine if a person of a mansion didn't care about housing then leader was passed to them and they decided to just lock the house and not return just to get all the money for themselves? I am waiting for the all the post of people doing this in future.
Well it passes to the most active person of the highest rank, so generally its someone that's already trusted by the original FC leader and someone that's active. Usually such people might already have a degree of that power or are seen as responsible.Speaking of the transferring of leadership.

And we saw a few threads about this already from bulmung i believe and I recall a few threads about leaders coming back and the new leader refusing to give the fc starter their leadership back :/
That particular drama bomb happened because it was a role play LS and the old leader wanted to change everything they'd done for their RP story. So the new leader wanted to just take the members and start fresh rather than scrap the RP story they had been working on while the old leader was away. It was eventually resolved, but the members felt that they were absolutely being held hostage since they were unable to demolish their rooms as long as the FC leader had revoked privileges.
Moral of the story: Don't announce you're leaving a FC. Just do it in the dead of night without saying anything.
