    Issues patching to play.

    So, the game was working fine for me for a couple of days and then suddenly I started getting random crashed while I was playing.

    I thought that maybe there was an issue with the files, so I uninstalled the game so that I could re-install is, since there is no repair option.

    However, whenever I try to patch the game, I get errors that stop the download saying that certain files couldn't be installed. What can I do to fix this?

    I got the same error a few days ago. My biggest mistake was to uninstall and redownload with my slow connection. Seems like the issue resolved with time. Are you using any vpn service by any chance?

    It looks like it didn't update your Game Loader as it's still showing the previous patch of Nov 5th 2015.

    What you will need to do is on your PC go to Documents -> My Games -> FFXIV and then you will see a file called FFXIV_BOOT

    You need to open that file in Notepad.

    You will see this

    "BootVersionCheckMode 0"

    you need to change it to this

    "BootVersionCheckMode 1"

    and then save that document and then close it.

    Right Click FFXIV and click Run as Administrator and then it should run through the Version Update again and be able to patch your game.

    I'm still getting the same errors unfortunately. :c

    Also, I noticed that the date didn't change, and is still labeled as November 5th.

    The launcher is actually reporting the right boot version. The bootstrap hasn't updated since 11/05 (you can verify that in the ffxivboot.ver file).

    Make sure you are launching as admin. The files are installed in a protected programs folder by default, and may need elevation for overwriting and such. This is a common issue many overlook.

    May also need to check your ffxivpatch.ver and ffxivpathc.bck files under the game folder. There could be a mismatch in the dates. If so, set them both to the earlier date.

    The downloads themselves may have gotten corrupted during download. You can try clearing them out manually to see if you get a fresh pull again. They are located in your Documents/My Games folder, nested within the FFXIV folder there. They will be in the downloads folder. After a successful patching, there should be nothing left in any of the subfolder except a patch.info file. If anything is in those enumerated patch folders, try clearing them out and try again.

    So in FFXIV -> downloads -> ffxivpatch -> 4e9a232b -> patch
    I have two files: H2014.05.27.0000.0000a.patch I also have H2014.05.27.0000.0000a.patch.info

    In FFXIV -> downloads -> ffxivpatch -> 6b936f08 -> patch
    I have: D2015.11.19.0000.0000.patch.info

    Are any of these an issue?

    I had a friend tell me to put my comptuer on ethernet instead of wireless, because apparently he had the issue and that fixed it, so I'm trying that now currently.

    It seems that having a wired connection causes this problem not to appear.
    Any ideas as to why? I would prefer to be on a wireless connection. :v

    the stream may not be consistent...could be getting a lot of errors/retransmits and things are timing out. Wireless can be iffy sometimes. Lots of things can cause interference--even something as simple as a compact fluorescent bulb near your signal path.

    Are you able to download yet? That is weird. I had the same issue and it resolved after a few hours. The problem started when my pc suddenly crashed when the patch was downloading.
