It looks great as is! That being said, I'm all for it as long as the guys get it too. (:
And no, we don't need to take away the midriff. Guys have bodies too.

The two armors are exactly the same, though. The male version just has an undershirt. So your issue should be with the poor design of the Dragoon armor in general, rather than the female variant.
The issue is the female version is showing skin in a sexualizing way where the male version does not. The complaint has also been made about the larger variation in the Ninja AF but there is actually people that like the changes and others that wish for a less sexualized version. The Dragoon AF as you said is just that guys have armor on their belly where girls don't... it's pointless and a stupidly ridiculous change. MAles also have that extended armor bit while the female version actually lacks that armored "skirt"

The fact that the female version of the armor leaves a gaping hold in the middle is blatant fan service and impractical. It's like "Let's make a suit of armor that reveals our weak spots instead of covering them".
It makes no sense. I am male in real life and this bothered my while leveling my dragoon. It looks incredibly stupid, so much so that I glamoured over it as soon as I got it.
The DRG body I can understand but the NIN AF, I dont get at all. What female Kunoichi wears pants.....? As far as I've seen, none. The top part doesn't even show that much skin at all. The AF2 pants I hate soooooo much that I had to glamour it immediately. It looks horrible on both males and females.

TifaBody shaming.Moral outrage
I'm perfectly fine with fanservice outfits, however if the armor is serious looking for males, it should be serious looking for females.
I'm happy with as much stripperific clothing as possible, but stuff shouldn't become skimpy just for females.
Its unisex..........facepalm.
